Wedding songs

Hi,

So we've recently met the registrar for our wedding and she has asked us to fill out some forms asking for our music etc as they have said not to include religious music etc.

We are not getting married in a church but at a venue. The song I'd like to go down the aisle only has one religious line and its about God right at the end of the song but I was wondering whether to cut the song shorter as the song is more in keeping about how I feel about my partner. Its not a hymn or anything like that and as far as I know it isn't used in churches. Do you think this would be allowed or should I look for another song? The song is Lauren daigle- you say 🤔

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question (although this might bump it for you), but I can't get my head round this rule at all.

I think it is great that wedding ceremonies can now be free from religion. I understand that people are free to write their own vows. I am delighted that people can choose music that is personal and meaningful to them - ditto readings, poems etc, but what I don't understand is why there is a blanket reading banning anything that might be perceived as religious ?
Surely if the couple can choose, they should have the right to be able to choose what they want to have ? Confused

Tell them to piss off with their stupid rule and as you're paying you'll have whatever sing you like, thankyou very much
