We are on the vacation of a lifetime in a really beautiful place and fancy accommodation. It's been a really tough year and we haven't been on vacation since 2019. This morning I went to put on my shorts which I had left on the floor and a scorpion fell out. We got it outside, all fine.
It's bedtime, so to wind down I've been reading all about scorpions. Now my skin itches everywhere and I'm staring at the ceiling waiting for one to fall on me.
The internet assures me that they are usually only fatal to children. Great! Except our PFB is with us of course. I've turned the ac down very low because I read they are most active above 77 degrees (fahrenheit, idk Celsius sorry) will the scorpion be attracted to the bed because of our warm bodies in it? I'm considering pulling the pack and play directly under the moving fan (ideally the blades would chop any falling scorpions) and climbing in with the baby to protect her with my body.
Is this a good idea? Also can you tell me if there are any brown recluse spiders in the sheets? Or black widows? Also, we saw a manta ray the first day in the ocean so probably we should only go in a few inches right? Is the pool safe? Do scorpions go in pools? What about that brain eating amoeba? Are agoutis generally rabid? I saw one earlier and it ran away from me really fast so I assume it was trying to lull me into a false sense of security. Is our dog going to be ok with the dog sitter? She looks really happy in the pictures but maybe she is actually wincing in pain?
Please save me from myself, we have 5 days left and I really need to enjoy this and relax as much as possible. Are we going to survive this trip?
Alternately tell me what you're worried about, I can start worrying about it too to keep you company.
