Casually watching Spectre on ITV whilst largely scrolling nonsense. They had the trailer for this new SATC reboot. And the announcer says, I kid you not, “since the cast are all in their 50s let’s hope it’s only the city”.
I actually can’t believe that something so outrageously ageist was broadcast in such a casual way. I know some young ‘uns might not like the idea of people in their 50s having sex, but come on! It’s not like it was in the middle of a programme aimed at teenagers either.
I think what annoyed me the most is the fact that it wouldn’t be said if it was about men. If there was sone programme with Brad Pitt, Clooney etc having sex nobody would ask them to put it away. So not just ageist, but sexist too.
