Smart toilets...worth it?

we're redoing our bathroom and I am looking at smart toilets. can the MN collective tell me all I need to know? Are they worth it?

we're looking at bidet with front and back washing, air drying with heated seats.

We have a closimat for my disabled husband and I bloody love it! Feels so clean.

I would love one. If you can afford it go for it.

We have the cheapest cold water bidet toilet seat and that is wonderful. I would definitely invest in a smart toilet money permitting.

I don’t know if this is actually an issue but I’d be worried that if the technology failed, you wouldn’t be able to flush it!

I was picturing a loo wearing a jacket and tie. Or a posh frock.

DP had one installed - I just use it as a normal toilet. He loves it. I'm not a fan. No one's tried to use during a power cut so can't advise on that aspect.

One thing that gets me is the design / model we have, has lots of seams and nooks and crannies on the toilet seat which are not easy to clean and it's tricky to get at the right angle to clean the area where the water for flushing comes out. Not very ergonomically designed. It also feels higher than a standard toilet.

I'm fairly sure the flush is "normal" and it's the bidet functions that would go.
