A Christmas gift for my friend's daughter. Wondering what your 11 year olds have read and enjoyed?

What type of things does she like?
My 12 year old really enjoyed: curious incident of the dog in the night time.

Anne of green gables
Roof toppers
The morrigan crow series
The Tiffany aching series

A Sprinkle of Sorcery and the two following that. Castle of Tangled Magic, the Warrior Cats Series, The Last Bear, if she's into eco stuff. Narnia if she's not read them already. There are loads of beautiful books about at the moment.

Susan Cooper’s The Dark Is Rising (the second book in her Dark is Rising series, but for various reasons it can be read as a stand-alone); is perfect. It’s set at Christmas and features a character who discovers he has magical powers on his eleventh birthday. It’s hugely atmospheric and great for eg. Harry Potter fans who are getting a bit older.

The Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan have been really popular with my two.

Thank you all. I'm heading to Waterstones later, so will have a look.

DD loves Jacqueline Wilson and they’re not all as hard hitting as they used to be - she’s recently done a modern version of the railway children!

I loved tamora pierce books at that age!
