School packed lunch failures 😳

Walking back from school and asked DC if they enjoyed their packed lunch…

DC replied that the cheese was too big. This was a surprise as the slices in his sandwich were very thin. I’d thought the complaint would be that his cheese tasted of strawberries (used the same knife).

Got home and opened lunch bag to check how much he’d eaten as he has form for not eating them (prefers school dinners but it was allergen day). Found a Tupperware with a slightly nibbled half bock of paneer cheese Blush

DC asked if I could please cut it up next time!

Now hoping I don’t bump into the school meals supervisor! Obviously will try to be a bit more organised on packed lunches and not throw everything in with six minutes to go before the deadline for reaching the school gates!

I nearly sent a tub of butter. Luckily I noticed the bag was heavy.

I also forgot the whole lunch a couple of times. Blush forty minute round trip to get it.

Awww he nibbled it 😂

Frozen rhubarb looks the same as frozen carrot and onion soup through the clear tuppaware. Thankfully it was my lunch for the day!

@SandandFog glad it made you laugh - I’m laughing about it now :)

Also glad I’m not the only one!

Lol, exH once took a Tupperware of cheese for his packed lunch. Still funny Grin

Over the years dh has made sandwiches where he forgot the filling...so just bread in my lunch box. Same for the kids. I was not pleased the second time this happened

You know the advice to freeze drinks so they act as ice packs and are nice and cold as they thaw? Well I did that for my son on a school trip and they stayed frozen all day!

The worst thing was they didn’t provide him with another drink (they were going somewhere with a gift shop and cafe). I would have obviously paid them back, I felt awful about it.

“Mummy I didn’t know you could get bread with blue spots on it” 😱🤦‍♀️

Not the same but during lockdown 1 I asked the DC to get their own lunch one day as I had meetings all day. I imagined a jam sandwich and crisps would have do that day. Instead, DC2 ate a frozen sausage roll in a pack that was supposed to be defrosting, she managed to gnaw the pastry off the outside but abandoned the rest as “a bit hard”. 😳

My DS4 has hot dinners but this week put some monster munch in a packed lunch box and took them to school. Told the teacher he was on packed lunches but mummy only gave him 1 thing to eat.

I had ordered him a roast dinner 🙀

Thank you all - not feeling like such a terrible mum now!

@MrsHerculePoirot - I feel this is a matter of time for us, I’m terrible at keeping bread fresh!

My dm made my sandwiches once with the mould on she had a loaf to bin and one for lunches.
Got them muddled. Me and my dB were in the hall and had to hide them.

But I remeber a mothers day comp on the radio to write in, before emails and say an embarrassing story with mums. And we won a meal for 4 in a lovely pub.
I expect the radio presenters felt we needed non mouldy food.

I packed a delicious chicken salad for myself for work
Except I took the tub that had just left over chicken in it Blush
Luckily I work with gym obsessed men who produced a pack of tortilla wraps, chilli sauce and offered protein bars/shakes/anything you could think of so I made a wrap from it!

CocoHeart · 14/11/2021 10:58

The paneer made me laugh 🤣🤣

When ds was in reception I was a bit over keen with things and made him no sugar brown flour fruit cakes and muffins. We thought they were awful but he came home with an empty lunchbox every day, so was pleased he had eaten them. He said they were nice.

A few months down the line a classmates mum asked if she could have a quiet chat, she informed me that his lunch got put in the bin each day and he chased other dc around the playground asking them to share theirs. Mortified. He got crisps and a penguin after that. Thank god she told me.
