As a complementary thread yo the Aldi one, please tell us about your favourite Lidl things.

Also, if you prefer Lidl or Aldi for particular things, e.g. veg, wine, meat, etc

At this time of year the chocolate santas

StarfishDish · 15/11/2021 18:16

Nappies for our daughter Grin

friskybivalves · 15/11/2021 18:20

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack

Everything in the bakery. Their version of a whole nut bar. The duck spring rolls in the freezer section.
Never ever seen duck spring rolls in either of the lidls near me!!
Comedycook · 15/11/2021 18:24

Generally prefer Aldi but that's because we have a couple of nice shiny new ones near us. I prefer the meat in Lidl though.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 15/11/2021 18:26

friskybivalves This sounds like I'm taking the piss but I'm not, they're usually beside a frozen quinoa ready meal they do Grin It's a red rectangular box, a pack of 10.

Longdistance · 15/11/2021 18:39

Porcini mushroom ravioli.
Deluxe ketchup (like Heinz used to be)
Family sized lasagne.

SequinnedShawl · 15/11/2021 18:43

Greek-style yoghurt, malted bloomer bread, cheese and chorizo rollitos, plus this chocolate.

I really don't like Lidl bakery, but their sour cherry and apricot jams are very good, and their Greek yoghurt, and their frozen berries/cherries/fruits of the forest. My DH likes some of their frozen Austrian and Greek specialities, too. Their dried fruit, nuts, single-estate fairtrade coffee and chocolate are excellent.
Often, their fruit and veg are fresher than other local supermarkets - though - up here in NW Scotland - that rather depends on whose big lorry has arrived most recently.

@Puzzledandpissedoff

Can't speak for anywhere else, *@Cissyandflora*, but here in the east midlands they have it all year round Not very reliably, though - one week it'll be that and the next salted caramel along with the basics such as strawberry, chocolate, etc.
I’ll keep a look out for it then! I’m very new to Lidl and am so happy to have found it. The one I went to today had no ice cream of any variety so I think it must be a smaller one than some. Only one small freezer part. I did buy the deluxe florentines though. 4.99 a small box so not cheap but I had some last week and they were incredible. Once the children are in bed later I will eat the whole box of them!
BunTooti · 15/11/2021 19:11

So many things. Tonight I'm having the deluxe farmhouse cheddar cauliflower cheese from the chiller, it's so good. I have it a couple of times a week.
£3.99 pinot noir is also my fave even compared to pricier wines.
All the bakery.

CouldThisReallyBe · 15/11/2021 19:12

Salted caramel 70% dark chocolate
0% Greek yoghurt

BunTooti · 15/11/2021 19:15

Oh and the 3 fish roast in the freezer with the fancy Xmas stuff is really good.

RosieRoww · 15/11/2021 19:21

Definitely their Greek style yogurts- absolutely fab!

Sliced gherkins pickles- delicious.

All the bakery.

They have a Teddy Bear ham salami that my dd love.

Lidl Deluxe Irish Cream Liquor is nice too, I like to add a wee bit to my coffee time from time.

Oh and their W5 Platinum washing up liquid, great consistency- few drops goes long way.

SpeckyWithTheGoodHair · 15/11/2021 19:29

Wine. I've never had a bad bottle.

Their gin is nice too

TuftyMarmoset · 15/11/2021 19:30

They sell it in other places as well but the marzipan Ritter Sport is amazing and only 99p there. I could easily eat a whole bar in one sitting.
The pretzels in the bakery
Linda McCartney sausages are much cheaper (ca £1.60) than anywhere else
Sweet chilli lentil curls
Multigrain crackers
Cherry brandy and triple sec (available around Christmas)
Deluxe wholemeal seeded bread
Mini cucumbers
The really cheap garlic bread

millenialblush · 15/11/2021 19:35

Mackies crisps

MrsFoxyplease · 15/11/2021 19:39

The chocolate seashells are a dupe for Guylian and are nicer.
Chocolate brownie from the bakery.
Shortbread fingers in the biscuit aisle.
Southern fried chicken pops.

The frozen pizzas are awful though.

Purpletoes · 15/11/2021 19:46

Their deluxe fruit and nut muesli
Mini stollen
Leberkuchen
When they have spainish food in the fresh clementine juice

Twillow · 15/11/2021 19:55

I work in a different supermarket with a discount, but I still go to Lidl for, amongst other things:
toilet roll
cotton buds
premium catfood
Chocolate esp the 60% and the whole nut
brown and white sugar
olive oil
bakery croissants
condensed milk
fresh juice
salt and pepper crackers
And at Christmas, their pandoro

MercyBooth · 15/11/2021 20:55

Beanies Coffee usually in the middle aisle. I wonder if they have the Christmas ones in yet.

DukkaDukka · 15/11/2021 20:58

Rhubarb and ginger gin liqueur
Cien Q10 serum with hylauronic acid

Anything in the middle. You don’t realise how much of it you need…

oohmama · 15/11/2021 21:05

For me it's the little kids trolleys

It's basically a day out for my 3 year old

I was there today and I forgot to get any brownie 😰😰 gutted

Igneococcus · 15/11/2021 21:07

There is a Christmas special cinnamon and plum chai latte powder at the moment. I know it sounds a bit weird but is actually delicious. I've bought two more packs, one to take to work and that is almost all gone already, I'm clearly not the only one who likes it.

RosieRoww · 15/11/2021 21:08

It's not in the stock now, but when it will be- the large colour on cardboard house- I got it for my kiddos last summer, didn't put much hopes for it, but now year and half later-it's still standing, very sturdy, kids still loves to colour it and enjoying it.

EdgeOfTheSky · 15/11/2021 22:24

Reach over the ‘Greek Style’ yogurt for the ‘authentic Greek Yogurt’ (full fat’ in the flatter tubs. It is more expensive but is the thickest, creamiest ever.

Padron peppers, when they have them.

Greek week Tins.

Spanish Week breadsticks with sunflower seeds.

Fake choc job nobs (better than real)

Fake Tunnocks caramel wafers

Bakery: sourdough / rye sourdough

The Linda McCartney sausages and burgers are usually v cheap.

Deluxe pasta sauces.

Avoid:
Bagged salad
Ready meals / quiches etc: v tasteless.
Tinned chick peas: wholly tasteless
Bags of frozen fish fillets. Low quality.
