Empty sac

Wondering if anyone has any advice for me…
Found out I was pregnant 5/11/21 and done a clear blue which was measuring me at 2-3 weeks booked a private scan today and been told the sac is empty… I am thinking I’m 5 weeks 2 days pregnant. Got to go to the hospital tomorrow for blood tests. Should I be worried?

Hey, I’m in this situation now. I went for an early scan thinking I was 6+3 the scan showed an empty sac and I measured 5 weeks. I’m due back tomorrow (after an 11 day wait) for a rescan. I have read so many places that this is normal so fingers crossed for us both

From experience, you are going to drive yourself mad second guessing. It could be normal or abnormal, there is absolutely no way to know either way.

What made you book a scan so early? Did you have bleeding or something sinister?

I just thought I was further on than expected but I had hospital appointment and they seen yolk sac and now a heartbeat I just think I was very early. It was a stressful week but time is everything.

I had an early scan as it is my first pregnancy and I wasn’t sure how far along I was and tbh it had happened out of the blue and truly didn’t believe it could be. I’m now kicking myself for going for an early scan because it’s just made me feel worse not better! I didn’t know what I would see/expect as never been here before. If I knew then honestly I wouldn’t of booked one until way further in. Just hoping that tomorrow shows it was just too early myself but I have prepared for the worst as it isn’t always a happy ending

@Foreverhope82 think positive I know it’s hard as I was kicking myself for going for an early scan and wish I didn’t but honestly I drove myself mad for a week thinking I had no hope but I was wrong hopefully you see a little heartbeat tomorrow. Best of luck

Thank you. Your right it’s so hard to stay positive but I always like to think it is what it is and I can’t change it either way just got to hold out till tomorrow and see what will be

@Foreverhope82 if it helps, in the early days with my son I went for a scan at what I thought was 7 weeks (history of recurring miscarriage so I was scanned weekly) and he was an empty sac. I assumed that was that and was expecting to start bleeding soon. Sure enough, I started bleeding heavily and just accepted it was another loss. I emailed my boss and said I needed a couple of days off because I was miscarrying.

4 weeks later my tests weren’t going negative so I was referred to the early pregnancy unit to have a scan to check the miscarriage wasn’t incomplete...

You could have blown me over with a feather when they showed me a perfectly formed, wriggly 10 weeker!

It was a fairly awkward conversation with my boss a few weeks later

@Conflictedboobs thank you for sharing that with me. What an amazing story and outcome! I would of been blown away. I have some pregnancy symptoms and have had no bleeding or anything I just need to stay positive and remember it is what it is!

So an update on my predicament I did go back for a rescan and they found the gestational sac had grown and there was a yolk sac but no embryo so had to go back in another 11 days went today and they can now see an embryo which measures 6 weeks 1 day (3 weeks behind my lmp) but no heartbeat so yet another 10 day wait!

Hi guys, wondered if anyone had experienced or going throught the same as me. im roughly 6 weeks, i had a small bleed monday and tuesday this week, had an internal scan on tuesday, nurse said she couldnt see anything apart from the pregnancy sac, so nothing could be seen inside. i had blood tests tuesday and yesterday (thursday) the nurse said my numbers have only rose by 47% when the least they look for is 60% as they should be doubling, i have a second scan tuesday 1st feb to have another look. has anyone experienced anything like this before or am i clutching at straws hoping there will be something there on my scan :( Thank you!
