Hi so mu nan died and I will t be able to attend her funeral. My grandad has sorted a online live stream of the funeral with the crematorium. I was wondering if anyone has used this before. If so will the people in the crematorium services be able to see me ? Or is it a one way video stream ? Thank you for any help.

All the ones I’ve seen have been one way only, just like watching a video. Sorry about your nan.

Thank you I really appreciate it. Its so hard with so much going on . My grandad didn't really understand it. Luckily my mum and dad will be there to support him on the day. Thank you.

Sorry for your loss.
It's just one sided, so they won't be able to see you.

My DDad died in the summer and we had a live stream of the funeral. It was organised by the funeral directors and done professionally via a private youtube link so people watched and could then watch it back afterwards. We knew how many views there were but not who watched (apart from those who told us they had done so).

But I've also watched them during lockdown on FB Live when people obviously could see who was watching and how many.

So it depends on how it's been arranged.

Sorry about your grandmother.

It's a one way video stream, I've watched several over the last couple of years.

Most I have been to in a crematorium were just one way.

The last one was a Zoom call setup in a church and all the zoom call attendees could see the service but could also see the other zoom call attendees who had their video switched on. If it is zoom you can just switch off your video.

The last online funeral I observed was in a very different time zone from us. In fact, it was wine o’clock here so we settled in. DF thought it a terrific idea.

It was just one way at DH’s funeral. I don’t know how many people watched. The link was shared by the funeral director for people to log on. I am glad this is still available for people who couldn’t get to the funeral.

Its definitely a really good idea. So glad it's available as there is no way I could be apart of it otherwise. So I'm very grateful. Thank you for all the responses here I really appreciate them.
