Oww, just fell down the stairs

My only excuse is that I was still barely awake and it was quite dark, but I somehow managed to completely miss the last stair and stepped out into the hall that was much lower than it should have been. I did a rather spectacular left bum cheek, left knee, right shoulder then face plant, but at least a rolling impact with the floor means nothing is damaged beyond a bit of bruising.

I've lived in this house for 11 years, I really ought have some sort of internalised count of the stairs. I much prefer flat living and have been talking about moving to a flat once the DC are older, might need to bring that plan forward a bit. Grin

I think some sneaky bugger added an extra step when you were asleep. Did you hear anything weird in the night?

Ohmych · 12/11/2021 08:11

Glad you're ok. I've done that before scared the crap out of me. I check carefully now when I get to the bottom of the stairs with my foot if there's another step or not.

Oww, poor you!

I fell full-length on the pavement the other week, having apparently tripped over my own feet. Tore a hole in my beloved Versace moleskin jeans that cost £2 from the charity shop, skinned my knee and grazed both hands. To add insult to injury, I ended up sprawled at the feet of a group of sixth-formers from the local grammar school, who all rushed forward to help like I'm some kind of little old lady (I'm 47, dammit!!). I wish I could have managed a ninja roll like yours, that would have helped salvage a bit of amour-propre!

Been there, done that OP... Thought I was at the bottom, still had 2 to go. Was carrying DS who was 2 at the time and all instinct was to protect him

Hit the deck and felt a pop - broke my foot in 2 places

I'm simultaneously comforted that I'm not the only one to have stupid falls and sad for you all that I'm not the only one to have stupid falls. Grin Well done for protecting your DS HelloCanYou HearMe, I hope your foot isn't giving any lasting problems. I'm particularly sad to hear about the demise of the Versace charity shop bargain, that kind of charity shop find comes along very rarely.

My DM had pulled all the carpets up after a flood and we had a few days with no carpets and exposed gripper rods. In the same morning I managed to catch my pyjama bottoms on the rods twice. Once on the stairs causing me to fall forward up the stairs, my body landing in a zig zag shape moulded to the stairs. The second I was holding a tray with two coffees, pyjama leg caught and stopped dead, I carried on moving and lurched forward with the tray... it didn't end well.

I got dressed after that Grin

I have fallen up to stairs holding DS (was 3 at the time). My foot went over the step but the toe of my slipper boot got caught on the step. So I stumbled and whacked both our heads against the wall. Luckily we were both ok.
But I've never worn the slippers boots going up the stairs holding him ever again. I also make sure I don't wear the slippers boots when holding a hot drink when walking up the stairs. I leave them under my desk in the box room and take them off whenever I walk out of the room (keep my feet warm when wfh).
