ICU staff - what would be a good gift fro a patient's family?

Having been fortunate enough to never see the inside of an ICU before I'm awed by the care given by the staff there. I'd really like to show my family's appreciation. Especially this close to Christmas I'd have thought they'd have chocolate coming out of their ears. So nursing staff - what would be appreciated?

My DH is an ICU consultant. Maybe something like fresh pastries? They’ll all get eaten! But what he and his colleagues really really appreciate more than gifts, is a card or letter. They’re all kept (and are used at appraisal/revalidations) and mean so much - it’s a very taxing difficult job, and sometimes when my DH is feeling low he has a read through some of the cards he’s been sent to remind him of the impact he’s had.

We all like to receive tea and coffee as the coffee the staff buy is so awful.

Maybe some nice coffee or tea? Would make a nice change from whats normally available in the hospital. A card though is always lovely and can be a real boost to morale.

In my experience a nice fruit hamper always goes down well. We get a lot of chocolate etc.

To be honest though, any gift is lovely.

Tea, Coffee, Fruit, or a sincere card.

Pens

Nice coffee.. Hot drinks like hot chocolate & Horlicks & cupasoups etc, that only need water added to them for quickness..... packets of KitKats and twix biscuits would be lovely Smile

I did a giant bag with (basically raided the snack aisle!)

Hand cream
Pens!
Tea/coffee/latte/hot choc sachets
Sweets (chewy and hard ones like jelly babies and haribo and werthers)
Chocolate biscuits
Snack bars/cake bars
Pretzels
Popcorn
Cordial in mini squeeze bottles
Mints

And a card so that it was something to put on record too

Food like cake slices and biscuits that are individually wrapped are a good shout so the covid police can’t complain! Check if your local icu has a freezer, if it does then fruity ice lollies are heaven after a shift in full ppe.
Nice hand cream and pens are always well received but as cheesey as it sounds a nicely written card just means the world when you’re having a tough shift.
