For me it's
Mid 90s
Always by Bon Jovi.
Informer by Snow.
No Good (start the dance) by The Prodigy.

I was mid teens and hanging around in the wrong crowd.

Early 00s

Let me blow your mind by Gwen Stefani and Eve.
Shackles by Mary Mary
Say my name by Destiny's Child

Young, free and single in my very early 20s,out clubbing every weekend

End of 2012
Don't you worry Child by Swedish House Mafia.
Dna by little mix.
Trouble by Little Mix

Split up with exH and was in a really weird place

Yours?

Summer of 2001, walking to work in Cape Cod in the baking heat listening to Smooth by Santana and Rob Thomas. I can still feel the bliss.

Ooh interesting question.

Turn of the Millennium: Pure Shores by All Saints - reminds me of being a teenager and not in with the cool crowd (they were all starting to go away on exotic holidays together at that age)
Moby, Porcelain - being an emo and alone but strangely finding it a bit euphoric at times (always loved this song) and reminds me of how it felt to be on the cusp of adulthood and have huge crushes on various lads

Early 00s: Mr Brightside - loving University and discovering going out properly
Anything by The Killers and similar bands of the time just reminds me of that frenetic few years

MintyGreenDream · 11/11/2021 21:45

I love Mr Brightside

The Narcotics Suite by the Prodigy - being at Reading Festival 1994 (now I am aging myself!)

The Girl with the Sun in Her Head by Orbital - Revising for my A-levels

Alright by Supergrass - Indie clubbing in the 90s

MintyGreenDream · 11/11/2021 21:53

Alright is 90s personified

Blessèd be your name
in the land that is plentiful,
where the streams of abundance flow,
blessèd be your name.
And blessèd be your name
when I’m found in the desert place,
though I walk through the wilderness,
blessèd be your name.
Every blessing you pour out I’ll turn back to praise,
and when the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say:

Blessèd be the name of the Lord,
blessèd be your name.
Blessèd be the name of the Lord,
blessèd be your glorious name.

Blessèd be your name
when the sun’s shining down on me,
when the world’s all as it should be,
blessèd be your name.
And blessèd be your name
on the road marked with suffering,
though there’s pain in the offering,
blessèd be your name.

You give and take away.
You give and take away.
My heart will choose to say,
‘Lord, blessèd be your name,’

When my nephew died. It will always, to me, be his song.

@MargaretThursday Flowers

That's beautiful x

Mine is Gypsy, Fleetwood Mac.

Didn't hear it till mid 2000's (i know!) and it was a time when i was finding my strength to leave an unhappy marriage. That song helped. When i hear it now i'm transported right back to the equal fear and excitement.

2013 was the worst year of my life. I was mid messy breakup and both my Grandad’s died of cancer within weeks.

Taylor Swift’s Red album was THERE for me.

And you call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest….

I went to see her later that year and All Too Well made me sob but it was so healing. I’ve never connected with an album so strongly. I’m currently staying up waiting for the re-release.

I’m now the happiest I’ve ever been but those songs still cut deep and listening to them reminds me that although I’m happy now that I went through a lot to get here and to be grateful for everything I have.

A case of you, Joni Mitchell. Reminds me of an absolutely life-changing, madly passionate relationship.

Carry on up the charts by beautiful south (the entire album) and savage garden affirmation (the entire album) my mum, my siblings and I would listen to beautiful south on the way to see my dad after he had cancer treatment then savage garden on the way home, he was in hospital for months. She used to pick us up from school and we'd drive straight to hospital spend a few hours with him, we'd get some food and eat a picnic on the floor of his hospital room, sometimes do homework then drive home and go to bed, did that everyday for 4 months.

Paul Simon 'father and daughter' from the thornberry movie. I heard it on the radio when I was 12 the day after my dad died and it just resonated took me ages to find it again though not gonna lie!

Also elbow one day like this, first song that broke the grief, even if it was 5 years later. I'm sure there were other songs I like in the years previously but this just sung to me

dontletthemugglesgetyoudownn · 12/11/2021 02:29

That was a bit deep
Hahah sorry

MercyBooth · 12/11/2021 02:39

She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5..........2004

MrsAvocet · 12/11/2021 02:49

I've only got to hear the first few bars of the original version of You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) by Dead or Alive and it ijs instantly 1984 and I'm in my first year at University.
The whole of Crowded House's greatest hits album reminds me of the time around the birth of my first baby as I used to play it non stop whilst pinned to the sofa for hours on end when she'd only sleep on my chest.
And I still cry every time I hear Debussy's Claire de Lune as it was the music played as we left the crematorium at my Mum's funeral.
