Why do so many TV dramas start off well then degenerate into a wet fart?

Latest is Close To Me. Ridiculous. The Tower also ended ridiculously.

DUPED into watching stuff with good first episodes and then FORCED to watch them through because I have no life til the soggy arsed end. Or am I just fussy?

Oh God, thanks for reminding me of London Spy. The utter tedium of it.

Yep!

Vigil was very silly but at least it started off that way - there was no misleading early promise!

No, no, the last episode of Angela Black can't let me down! Although her trembly-voiced acting is a tad samey I have been (fairly) gripped by the (mildly predictable) twists and turns so far. Plot aside, why does her character wear those gigantic trousers?

I haven't watched the second series of that other drama she was in, the one with the rapist, forgotten what it was called.

Hollington Drive started out great but the ending was pretty shit, agreed - disappointing.

I watched 3 episodes of The Long Call yesterday - not sure what to make of it, there seems to be a lot of moody staring into the middle distance and stating the obvious. "If only we could find the missing person's PHONE we could find out WHosE BeeN hUrtInG HeR..."

Well, yuh-huh.

I might go and find The Sopranos, never seen it. Will also try some of the other better ones mentioned.

It's the bane of my life. So many times me and DH have settled down to watch what has been billed (and what looks like) a really good drama only for both of us to say at the end 'well that's (X) amount of hours we won't get back'.

Hollington Drive was dreadful, as was The Deceived.

Thanks to those on the thread who reminded me about Giri/Haji.

Now that was fantastic, from beginning to end.

Another one I thought was really good: Deadwater Fell

Both Hollington Drive and Close To Me were dreadful IMVHO. I only watched the first episode of both and that was enough.
