Covid passes for venues, anyone help or got experience?

I live in Wales and the government have just voted to introduce covid passes. The event I'm going to is at a theatre, I have sorted my covid pass but my elderly parents and my massively technophobe sister have not. My sister phoned a helpline and they said it would take ten days to arrive by post, but this won't be in enough time for the event! My Mum and Dad cannot be persuaded that their vaccination cards will not be enough. I'm really worried, the tickets cost a fortune. Does anyone have any advice or experience of using a Covid Pass? It seems a bit unfair that we've not had enough notice, we bought the tickets ages ago. Now I might have to see it on my own and not even get a refund for the other tickets! Help!

It took about 5 days for the letter to come through.

Would be quicker if they can use the app though.

Also I went to AO arena at the weekend where they said they were checking covid status. I had my letter ready but they didnt check it.

Set up NHS accounts on their behalf and you can print off their covid passes to take with you.

covid-status.service.nhsx.nhs.uk/

The covid pass app doesn't work in Wales.

My letter came in a few days but yes I would set up an account for them.

Covid status in Wales can also be shown by proof of a negative lateral flow test so just get them to do one of them, then log the negative result and they show the text on entry.

I'm in Scotland and we just screen shot ours so we each have them in case one of them has a dead battery or we leave a mobile at home.

Thanks everyone, I didn't realise I could set up accounts for them myself. I'll do that.
Are venues very strict? I'm wondering if we'll be queuing for ages?

Can they do a LFT the day before instead?

NavigatingAdolescence · 11/11/2021 23:00

Had this conversation with my dad earlier as we have tickets for the theatre in Cardiff on Monday.

Some venues will accept the vaccination card with photo ID.

My mum somehow downloaded 2 other countries apps before the NHS one I’d sent her the link for. She managed it in the end

If not as other PP said would it not be a negative test do instead?

I've shown my Covid passport many times it’s never been checked against any form of ID which is worrying

BashfulClam · 11/11/2021 23:45

@FlamingGoat they won’t accept a screenshot. Look at the Scottish app, it has a clock on it to show its an up to date status and not a screenshot as those can be doctored etc.

Never noticed one and the security at the gig we went to didn't either. Opps. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just checked, we haven't got a clock, just a date on the bottom saying when our vaccination status certificate was issued. Its a printable one .

Sugarandtime · 12/11/2021 06:21

Surly everyone taking a lateral flow test is safer.
I’m not sure I’d feel ‘safer’ being in a venue surrounded by people who could have the virus but not know it. Just because they have an app on their phone.

BashfulClam · 12/11/2021 21:39

@FlamingGoat this is what mine looks like at the bottom. It shows the current time. This is from the app.
