Six weeks ago we moved back home to Canada after living in London for four years for my DH’s job. In the UK we were eligible for the NHS and registered with a local GP. The GP surgery used the online patient portal for test results, appts, prescription requests, etc. My last appt there was in late July. At the time our moving plans were up in the air and I didn’t mention it.
My new local doctor has asked for my GP records so I tried to log into the portal and print them out and my login was not recognized. I called the GP and they said we have been removed from their rolls. I can still get my records so that’s fine but I am just wondering how the GP’s office found out so fast that we had left the country? I don’t think we gave any “official” notice other than to our landlord. My DH is still working for the same employer and I can’t imagine they were organized enough to notify anyone.
To be clear I am not complaining. Of course the GP needs accurate rolls for lots of reasons. I’m just surprised it happened so quickly.
