Bedding/Duvet sets

How many do you own ? I am talking for the marital bed !

I have loads and they take up far too much room. So my question is how many do you need?

I think I need to get rid of quite a lot of bedding that I never use any more as part of a de-cluttering exercise

I have 3 sets including sheets. Tend to rotate two of those and keep the third for backup. Not quite sure what that's about but to be fair, they are all almost completely white!

Anordinarymum · 10/11/2021 17:17

Thanks. I had a feeling four would be a reasonable amount. I have around twenty sets for the bed and other stuff besides taking up too much room in my airing cupboard. And because I have so much stuff, I can never find what I want so the answer is to cull those sheets !

TWENTY?!!! Shock

You're not the poster who buys new seasonal themed autumn/Christmas duvet sets are you?

We have three, one of which is well past it's last legs, but my problem is that what I like (brightly coloured, 100% cotton, high thread count, preferably under £100 for a duvet cover and pillowcases) doesn't really exist so I'm not in danger of excessive buying.

We also have 3 on general rotation, plus one thicker brushed flannel set for very cold weather.

I tend to keep them until they start falling apart - 18 year old set is on its last legs, so we are scouting for a replacement, which I am ridiculously excited about.

Lol at twenty!

Sprig1 · 10/11/2021 17:50

2, but only really use 1 as I tend to wash and dry it in the same day.

freshcarnation · 10/11/2021 18:21

One on one off

Honkingallthewaytothebank · 10/11/2021 18:28

Twenty!

We have two duvet sets and need to replace one as the dog chewed a hole in the corner. Loads of odd pillowcases as we have a whole variety of differently shaped pillows. Maybe 4 fitted sheets and 3 flat sheets for summer.

About to have a Good Sort Out though as I'm sick of never having a fully matching bed.

Burnt0utMum · 10/11/2021 18:30

We have 1 that we use and gets washed and dried the same day. We have 1 spare but never need to use it.

ParkheadParadise · 10/11/2021 18:30

4 sets
All white and all look practically the same.
I do have too many throws and pillows that I use to add colour.

cherrypiepie · 10/11/2021 18:33

How on earth do you have room for 20! Shock

We have one (well two but don't like it as it's cheap) so need a new one Grin

Wash and dry in day and the spare for a dire emergency- usually involving ddog.

FlowerFlour · 10/11/2021 18:35

Twenty?? Shock Yes that is a lot. Do they not take up the entire cupboard?

I have two so I rotate them. Could probably stand to have one more set but it's not urgent.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 10/11/2021 18:36

Two sets. They’re both white.

I did a massive clear out of the airing cupboard a few months ago, leaving us with two sets for each family member, a set for the spare bed and a stash of plain white towels, all organised in separate labelled storage tubs. I’m a natural hoarder so it was hard getting rid of stuff but it’s made trying to find stuff a million times easier.

RuthW · 10/11/2021 18:36

I have three. One is a Christmassy set I use in Dec and as a spare if absolutely necessary

Same for adult dd's bed

letsfightlikechickens · 10/11/2021 18:36

@freshcarnation

One on one off
Same
MrsMcCluskeysCat · 10/11/2021 18:37

3, two that we rotate all year and a brushed cotton one that comes out in winter.

BertieBotts · 10/11/2021 18:40

Two and two for each child's bed too. They are so bulky I don't want to store loads but they take longer than a day to dry. I have one set spare for guests.

PollyRae16 · 10/11/2021 19:41

Three. We tend to go for 300 thread count ones that wash well so don't need replacing often.

NotMyCat · 10/11/2021 19:42

Er. About 15 Blush

RubyFakeLips · 10/11/2021 19:46

We have about 6, half for summer and half for winter. I’m not really sure why as we don’t get cold in the night but I tend to have the room differently in A/W than S/S.

Inmypjsagain · 10/11/2021 19:47

I have way too many- I just had a clear out and got rid of 11 sets! I have linen for summer x2, flannel for winter x2 and then normal cotton x2. For the spare bed we have cotton x2. Husband still thinks that’s excessive but I don’t want to cull anymore 🙈

MeatyRvita · 10/11/2021 20:15

3 for us, one plain beige/white, one more wintery and one more summery bright pattern for when I want to change it up. Our bedroom is neutral so I like using bedding to change the vibe of our room.
Ds is 4 and is having a moment of wetting the bed still despite wearing pull ups, m so he has 4 on rotation as we don’t have a tumble drier.

Anordinarymum · 11/11/2021 00:19

It's because I never throw things away. There is no room in the airing cupboard and no I do not buy bedding for Christmas !

I have thrown about fifteen sets away including throws that came with some of the sets and random pillowcases that have all seen better days I have given them to someone who needs them and my airing cupboard now looks pretty sparce. Very tidy though.

Three. I've had three for as long as I can remember. I have a strict one in/one out system so only allow myself a new set if there is one that definitely needs to be replaced.
