How do I dispose of knives?

I've got an ancient set of knives, which are beyond sharpening.

Anyone have a clue on how I safely get rid of them?

Lots of police stations have an amnesty box - not quite what they're intended for but useful all the same

Failing that I'd put them in a plastic bottle and put that in the bin - it will at least prevent it ripping the bag

Wrap in newspaper and bin as usual

I took them to my local recycling centre and put them in the metal recycling skip.

Thanks all! I decided that keeping them in the knife block, and wrapping that in a strong plastic bag (taped up) would probably work.
