Add fresh fruit into it, strawberries, raspberries. If need be sprinkle some crushed nuts on top for texture. I love it now.

Rummikub · 10/11/2021 10:54

Try a thicker one like two valley organic
Add a bit of honey (or syrup yum)

Rummikub · 10/11/2021 10:54

Greek yoghurt with fruit added ...anything you have. It's thick and creamy.

faithfulbird20 · 10/11/2021 10:55

What brands do u have? Even store brand will do... Are we talking about the plain yoghurt or Greek yoghurt? Lastly do your kids have it? As opposed to say the fruity yoghurts that are bad for their teeth...

Proper Greek yoghurt is thick and creamy and not sour like the low fat stuff.

LaBellina · 10/11/2021 10:56

I add honey and walnuts to plain Greek yoghurt. Or I eat it as frozen yoghurt with strawberries and M&Ms Grin

raintropics · 10/11/2021 10:57

Start by eating with other foods like fruit or a little bit of honey. Eventually you'll get used to it and should be able to eat it by itself. Smile

IGotHam · 10/11/2021 10:58

Yes to everyone saying proper Greek yoghurt. Delicious stuff. Most of the supermarkets do a decent own brand. M&S/Tesco/Waitrose all good. If you want to spend a bit more then look out for the Fage brand.

LactoseTheIntolerant · 10/11/2021 11:00

I love plain yogurt with fruit in particularly berries and juicy peaches.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/11/2021 11:00

Always gives me a wry smile on MN when people say that yoghurts which are just yoghurt and fruit purée are awful junk but that you should eat Greek yoghurt with a squeeze of honey. It’s sugar babe.

If you don’t like it then don’t force it OP, but yeah, berries and a sprinkling of nuts or chia seeds is good.

CherryRedDMs · 10/11/2021 11:00

It sounds like you don’t actually like yoghurt, so I wouldn’t bother.
My kids have eaten plain natural yoghurt since weaning. They have tried fruit flavours but prefer plain.

AliasGrape · 10/11/2021 11:01

We have greek yoghurt and I buy the full fat stuff - either actual Greek yoghurt like fage or a decent Greek style one like Lancashire farm or Yeo valley isn’t too bad. Most of the supermarket Greek style ones are watery and sour although some of the ‘best/ premium’ ranges are good. If you wanted a lower fat version then stick with fage and get their 5 or even 0%

Personally I don’t really enjoy natural yoghurt though it is better than Greek in terms of being lower in saturated fat.

I have it with berries and maybe some ground almonds or mixed seeds/ chopped nuts.

DD eats both Greek and ‘natural’ yoghurt just fine although she’s not really had the other kind very often, though the childminder does give the fruity ones on her days sometimes. DD only 15 months though, might change her mind as she gets older!

BlackKittyKat · 10/11/2021 11:01

Tesco finest full fat Greek yogurt is lovely. Not sharp at all (IMHO).
I like it with fresh raspberries or blueberries.

TheSpiral · 10/11/2021 11:02

I only like full fat, plain yoghurt (greek or non-greek) I find the other kinds too sweet. I never eat it by itself though - usually with some combo of banana/ blueberry/ raisins/ cinnamon, or have it instead of cream with crumbles, puddings etc. I do like the sharp taste though.

My kids don't really like yoghurt at all but when they did have it I tried to stick to Rachel's organic which for some reason I thought was healthier - I can't remember why now though, as looking at them they do have sugar in - maybe they didn't used to, or perhaps I was deluding myself.

Westfacing · 10/11/2021 11:04

I eat it as a savoury - sprinkle with dried mint or zaatar.

Runaroundtrain · 10/11/2021 11:04

Fage greek yogurt is lovely. A teeny bit of honey drizzled over it is delicious and equally nice with fruit too.

Poppets14 · 10/11/2021 11:05

Greek yogurt- don’t get fat free it’s horrible.
Aldi do a lovely one that’s 10% fat

Add fruit

Lidl do a lovely low sugar granola
I add a small amount of honey

Mamamia7962 · 10/11/2021 11:06

Yeo organic yoghurt is lovely with a small amount of honey to sweeten it.

Caspianberg · 10/11/2021 11:06

You need property Greek yogurt, not natural or ‘Greek style’. Usually total fage brand, but they now often only sell fat free in supermarkets. Otherwise own brand usually have a proper Greek yogurt. M and s, or sainsburys both do. It will be thick yogurt and not sour like natural

Lemonsyellow · 10/11/2021 11:07

But why, if you don’t like it? I like plain yoghurt. Flavoured yoghurt is weird and a bit vile, so I don’t eat it.

faithfulbird20 · 10/11/2021 11:08

I want to like eating it for my teeth. I'm trying to avoid sugar...honey makes my teeth hurt a lot...but I guess a drop wouldn't be that bad...

OP posts:
lovingnewme · 10/11/2021 11:11

How does honey hurt your teeth?

Sounds like you need a trip to the dentist?

My favourite yogurt 'recipe' is:

Full fat Greek yogurt
Crushed walnuts
Thinly sliced fresh apple
A good glug of Maple syrup

I'm going to have it for lunch in a bit

ginghamstarfish · 10/11/2021 11:13

make your own? always sweet and yummy.

viques · 10/11/2021 11:15

I love plain full fat Greek yogurt, as others have said, it is creamy and not at all bitter. I eat it on its own, with fruit, on granola, in soup, with curry or chilli, you can add things to it like sweet chilli sauce, finely chopped fresh mint, chopped spring onions, or cucumber and turn it into a dip. Amazing stuff.

Top tip, if it separates out a bit just stir it back together, I used to pour the liquid bit out until I learnt better.

Another top tip, avoid any that are labelled “Greek style” , they aren’t the real deal and often have added thickeners.
