Car parking in central Oxford (evening)

I have a night out in Oxford next week (mid week) and will need to drive. Am I right in thinking parking is going to be a nightmare, or is there somewhere obvious that won’t require me to use the park and ride on my own in the small hours?

It’s ages since I’ve needed to drive there although I do know my way round quite well. The do is on Broad Street btw. Can any Oxford MNers help me out with suggestions please?

You could park in the Westgate shopping center. Option 2 would be one of the park and rides.

You could try looking on Just Park. People rent out their driveways too

hi I think there is some on street parking spaces available on residential roads near broad street , then there is an open air small ground level patch near the Randolf hotel , then the multi level thing near the new shopping centre. google it all would be best

Yea you can park directly in Broad Street though limited and think you have to round the houses now. I would aim for St Giles there is is parking both sides ( £5.75 at a machine)

I've parked there on a Sunday and Monday in the last couple of weeks and plants if spaced

Plenty of spaces

Where are you coming from ? It's best to use Woodstock Road or Banbury Road to aces St Giles

Are you going to the Sheldonian ? There are no refreshments so take something with you if you need it

St Giles seems pretty empty in the evenings (compared to Pre covid!) I've been a few times in the last few weeks to see shows and had no trouble parking. Alternatively you could use the underground carpark, just of fleft from the Playhouse?

Oh thank you - loads of suggestions! Yes, I’ll google these and see what’s what; sounds like it will be easier than I thought then Flowers

There's often loads of (free!) parking around university parks in the evening. I'd also try my luck on Mansfield Rd, that was always free in the evening and usually had space, they start charging first thing in the morning though (maybe 7)

And if you do use the underground car park... last time we were there had a huge problem trying to get the parking app to work as had no signal ( and the car park is skanky)

I’ll be coming from another event in Newbury so I guess the A34, coming from the south. I imagine therefore it will take a bit of time to get round to St Giles/ Broad St so will make sure I build that in!

You can come off A34 onto Botley road right through to Hythe Bridge Street (A1414) follow round past the Ashmolean and St Giles is the left turn
