It’s Saturday morning in the early 80’s and I’m ringing up Swap Shop to swap my Tiny Tears for a Mr Frosty. Anyone willing to take on Tiny Tears and swap for something else ?

I don't suppose I can swap my husband for something useful?

Obsidiansphere · 09/11/2021 19:38

I’ll swap my brothers wind up Evil Kenevil for a Sindy house….

suckingonchillidogs · 09/11/2021 19:40

I just want to go wherever Cheggars is this week to see him do the live swaps ! I miss Cheggars 😩

Tillymintpolo · 09/11/2021 19:46

Mr Frosty and all my Sindys for an a la carte kitchen anyone?

liveforsummer · 09/11/2021 19:50

Never did get my keeper - will swap a selection of original my little ponies

friggingnora · 09/11/2021 19:50

I've got a stuffed Snoopy and I'd love a Sindy horse please.

Allaboutthecake · 09/11/2021 19:52

Anyone want a girl’s world. I’ve cut the hair short mind you. You can also have the Cardboard Sindy house that I had. My parents were tight arses so it never had a single item of furniture with it. I would love a piano in return.

Poshjock · 09/11/2021 20:08

Mr Frosty was a huge disappointment, difficult to get the ice to "grate" and handle was hard to wind and sore on little hands and the syrup only flavorite a tiny bit of the grated ice so you got a really strong tiny bit of ice and a lot of cold water.

I need another pair of disco boots, my last pair - the stopper has worn out and fallen off and one of the cool leather stripes with gold stars on is coming away from the blue leather boot.

I offer up a large cardboard box of random corgi cars, van and trucks - no boxes and the vehicles are in various states from pristine to rather scratched and bashed.

(Disco roller boots was by far my favourite toy and in all I had 3 pairs and wore each pair completely to death)

I used to covertly watch Tiswas by sitting an inch from the TV, ready to press the 1 button to change back to Swap Shop when my parents finished washing up. I sobbed hysterically when my dad rang in for me to win some ABBA goodies. I thought I was going to have to talk to Noel Edmonds.

I'd like to swap a Jamie Lee Summers head for a Girls World with the hair growing key, please. Or a Sindy. The Jamie Lee Summers head has stripes on her face from where my friend and I made her into a cherokee girl with my mum's real lipstick and it wouldn't come off.

I'd love the Viewmaster. I have some vintage Batman and Man From U.N.C.L.E slides that I haven't looked at in ages. I'd swap it for my Evel Knievel motorbike toy that jumps through flaming painted hoops.

I got rid of my Girls' World ages ago. And its crayon eye shadow.

MorganSeventh · 09/11/2021 22:42

I've got an A-Team annual which I would like to swap for a My Little Pony, please. Ideally one of the fancy ones with multicolored mane and tail, and wings. But I'd settle for a bog standard Cotton Candy.

Ive got roller boots for a baby alive doll

dayswithaY · 10/11/2021 07:29

Did anyone here successfully swap anything? How did it work, did you exchange addresses and post your roller skates or whatever to someone else. What if they failed to send you a Look-In annual in return, did you have any come back? So many questions!

I always assumed it was just a gimmick and no one really swapped anything?

Me too! But I thought it was 081 811 8181 before they messed around and added all the extra 1s to area codes? Or my brain is deciding that has got a better rhythm 😁
ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 10/11/2021 09:25

Just looked it up and the number changed in 1994 so when I was watching it was 081….phew, brain not broken!

ItsNotNormalLove · 11/11/2021 03:34

Omg pleeeease will someone take my Sindy's Boutique play set and swap it for an actual Sindy? My parents inexplicably bought me the play set but would not allow me a Sindy doll. I had Crystal Barbie and a Gem doll.

allycat4 · 11/11/2021 04:18

I remember the Going Live number too! But....why did anyone ring it? Were there competitions?

liveforsummer · 11/11/2021 04:59

I remember that but the jingle that keeps going round in my head is 0800 double one double one which is childline I'm sure - no idea why it was so jolly!
