Pula / Istria (Croatia) with kids

Any good areas, actitives etc? Planning a summer break with friends and their dc, and Pula/surrounding area is coming up in talks.

Kids are between 6 and 10, and I'm thinking a villa would suit best so they can all go to bed at a reasonable ish hour and we could also have access to a private pool.

I've heard Croatian beaches are mainly pebble so will get water shoes.

Looking for any and all recommendations for the region. We will hire a car (not sure about the other families) so dont mind a bit of driving.

Hey I live in the Istria area nowadays.you definitely need a car to go around. Rovinj has couple of nice pebbles beaches with playground and restaurants nearby so pretty easy with little ones. I loved dolphins watching, the caves are spectacular around here, dinosaur footprints at rt. Kamenjak, the aquarium in Pula, the amphitheater is really cool. Plenty of villas with pools around. No kids menu here but most food is kid friendly pasta, pizza, chips and meat… you’ll love it!

Agree with the post above. We've holidayed in Istria quite a bit (often splitting our time between Opatija and Rovinj) and love it. You do need a car to visit places but it's so worth exploring the countryside if you can. Some of the little hilltop towns (like Grosnjan, Buje and Motovun) are stunning and well worth a visit.
