Cornwall or Isle of Wight for quick break this weekend?

Hello Mumsnet, I am looking into a last minute break this weekend. I was thinking of a lovely hotel spa somewhere along the coast. I found a hotel in Newquay, which would take 5 hours to get to. It seems to have a gorgeous spa, swimming pool, sauna etc and is right by Fistral Beach. Would there be enough to do for a 3 night stay? On the other hand, I found a gorgeous hotel on the Isle of Wight, which doesn't have a spa, but I am thinking there may be more activities to do there and it will be a shorter commute to the island, compared to Cornwall.

Any thoughts? I need to book tonight!

We live in Cornwall and visited Watergate Bay, not too far from Newquay, last weekend. Beautiful and blowey walk watching kite surfers and walking on the golden sands (wrapped up). Chicken burger at Wax. Free parking this time of year!

Go for it. Not a Newquay lover as such but the spa sounds great to use some time.

If weather carries on looking good maybe take a drive to the Minack to see the amazing cliff top theatre and a walk on Porthcurno too? If you've not been before.

Loads to do in Cornwall. Personally I prefer it to the Isle of Wight as a holiday destination.
