Anyone work in a bank or know anything about banking?

Failing to manage to talk to a human to ask, live in the sticks and mobile banking is once every 2 weeks.

I have a cheque to pay in, it’s made out to Executors of Mr X, being Mrs A and Mr B.
Mrs A and Mr B are both executors and Mrs A needs to cash the cheque, but clearly Mr B hasn’t got a joint bank account with Mrs A. Can Mrs A just cash the cheque to settle accounts or does Mr B need to attend the bank and give permission/write a letter or do I take the probate form etc? Mr B wants Mrs A to cash it. It’s a long way to find a bank to find out I need to wait for a letter through the post from Mr B first.
Or you can cash cheques now at the post office, wonder if it’s worth just trying to bank it there, and if they reject it, will they post the cheque back to me to try again as getting it reissued will be a nightmare.

You probably need to set up a whole new executors account for the cheque to go into. It cannot go into an account without both names on it and the cheque can't be cashed either

Ah that sucks. All of the other cheques they’ve just been put in Mrs A name if Mr B has signed the form. Setting up a joint account will be a pain. Wonder if I can get them to reissue the cheque. Sorry, when I say cash, I meant pay it into a bank account to transfer when it clears.

The name on the account needs to match the cheque so maybe it would be easier to get the cheque changed. Have you designated a separate account for the proceeds to go in to?

Cheque needs to be reissued. Simple.

I’ve done this before when we didn’t have a joint account and got a refund from the landlord. The cheque was cashed at the bank with no issues.
