Any dentists around? Weird wobbly tooth

I think I will just have to take DD to the dentist but if anyone has any thoughts in the meantime…

DD is 5 and has had her first wobbly tooth since the start of September. It is now sticking out and to the side, in front of the tooth beside it (ie crossed over with the other middle front tooth).

It can’t really ‘wobble’ any more because of where it is, and she says it’s started to hurt her.

I can see the new tooth coming up behind the wobbly one.

Any thoughts? Will the dentist want to pull it? She will freak

DS is older (12) but had a wobbly one a few months ago which didn't get pushed out by the adult tooth. The adult tooth had grown fully behind it but still didn't push it out, making the adult tooth come in wonky. I took him to the dentist who put numbing cream on it and whipped it out, it was over very quickly and not painful. If it's worrying you and hurting her, I'd take her to the dentist to have it checked.

Yes, I think I’ll have to. I’m a bit worried about the new tooth but have been mainly focused on brushing around it gently so nothing gets trapped underneath the weird one.

I’m glad it went ok for your DS!

The neighbour tooth fell out today! So now just the weird crooked tooth is left, which will presumably fall out more easily now.

No pictures but sounds very normal. Time will sort it.

This is not the sort of thing you ring up and ask for an urgent appointment for. If it’s still there at routine 6 month check up you should mention it then for reassurance.

Who said anything about an urgent appointment?

My son had something similar. His adult tooth was coming up behind it and the baby one was so wobbly but hadn't fallen out on its own. Mil is a dentist and said of I took him to the dentist they would pull it so the other one can come through and settle into place. We did it at home with string and he didn't bat an eyelid!
