Primary schools in Hersham

Good evening!

Does anyone have experience with primary schools in Hersham please? I've visited Burhill, Bell farm and Cardinal Newman and having a tough time deciding which one to send my child to next year. As we are not catholic will be difficult to get a space in Cardinal Newman which is a shame as we are so close to it, Burhill and Bell farm both appear to be ok according to ofsted reports but just wondering what parents think of these schools on recent years.

Will be visiting Cranmere school soon as well.

Thanks for reading and any thoughts you would like to share will be much appreciated.

Have you looked at how they have been filled distance wise in recent years? I would be surprised if you don't need to put your nearest down as you are unlikely to get a place elsewhere. My knowledge is a few years out of date but there used to a notable shortage of places.

Yes, my nearest schools are Cardinal Newman and Bell farm, Burhill is not far either, just under a mile away and looking at the previous years all 3 should be fine distance wise. Although Cardinal less so because we are not catholic.

They are all good schools.

Children at CN will go to Salesians (feeder school if you are catholic). Burhill and bell farm will feed into Three rivers.

Burhill has a long wait list for after school club; it might be something to consider.

Can you walk to all the schools? Does help but Burhill has Waitrose car park which really helps. 😀

Thank you for your reply. Yes I could walk to all 3 as they are under 1 mile away, although sometimes I might have to drive and having a car park near by is helpful. I did hear about the after school club being full, I guess I will have to get a childminder to collect my child if we decide on burhill.
I’m not too concerned about secondary schools yet as we might move before then, although Catholic schools seem to be good in most areas.
