Really idiotic questions about tv/broadband/streaming

I think we need to change our tv/broadband which is costing us stupid amounts of money.

At present we have

  • new-ish tv so I assume it’s a smart tv
  • iPads which we use for streaming as well as internet time-wasting
  • Netflix
  • Amazon Prime
  • Apple TV bought this year so new version
  • Now TV Entertainment package

We want to keep Netflix etc and also want to be able to pause/rewind live tv. And probably record tv programmes so we don’t have to use iPlayer all the time - but this is just because we’re lazy, Very Old and don’t like change…

Do we need a broadband/tv package? Or just broadband? And if so do we need a set-top recorder? Amazon Firestick? New tv?

I’m completely stumped and don’t even know which questions I should be asking! Please help!

I'm not sure this is going to be much use, but it will bump it for you. We have Netflix, and a set top recorder, and Freeview, which we do ok with. Not sure if a Firestick gives you recording or not.

we've SkyQ....that give the internets, live/pause/record and free netflix, although that is just one screen, but it's only me and dh so that's fine

also got amazon prime and iplayer and all the other on demands on the sky box

and just bought a firestick for the upstairs tv which is a revelation, I thought that would just be amazon prime, but no....it's got all the things including live tv on the iplayer app.

I'm following with interest! We're with Sky and want to leave, but like you I want to be able to pause and rewind live TV, and record so we can fast forward through adverts.

I'm so glad someone has asked this. I'm in a similar position and have not got the first clue as to what the options are.

Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one 😀

There are just so many different bits to combine. It’s doing my head in!
