What's the weirdest thing your DC watch on YouTube?

DD (8) watches the usual dross of unboxing videos, famous families, Roblox memes etc but every so often I will hear her listening to something totally random.

The strangest one and one that she keeps going back to every month if so is a little girl having a sleep study at the University of Vermont Medical Centre (we live in northern England). Apparently she "just finds it interesting".

Intrigued to know what other weird things kids find on there....

A sleep study?

It's not asmr is it?

TellerTuesday · 07/11/2021 17:31

No I don't think so, from what I've seen & heard you don't actually see any of the study just her checking into hospital, getting the wires etc attached and then her having jello before she goes home in the morning 😵‍💫

My 4 year old loves watching cookery videos, then he tries to convince me to buy all manner of obscure kitchen gadgets😂

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 07/11/2021 17:44

DD aged 7 likes

  • crufts
  • world strongest man competitions
  • videos of majorettes competitions (she's never wanted to join majorettes just likes watching it)
  • videos of hydraulic presses squishing various item, but to be fir it is quite mesmerising. There's even a series of videos of people dancing/imitating things being squished by hydraulic presses.
Starcaller · 07/11/2021 17:51

DD likes to watch videos of people making things with Playdoh Grin

MagicalFish · 07/11/2021 17:52

Mine have got into something called Algodoo - I don't really know how to describe it. Like virtual marble races/battles. I must admit it's quite mesmerising and makes a nice change from the inane Roblox/Minecraft gamers.

TurnUpTurnip · 07/11/2021 17:52

Videos of cars driving over things and squashing them like toys , fruit, toothpaste

Unsuremover · 07/11/2021 17:55

Painting restoration videos. I was pleased cause it seems more
Educational than things getting cut up. But it’s definitely weird and compulsive viewing.

Bananalanacake · 07/11/2021 17:56

Playmobil acting out stories,

ponkydonkey · 07/11/2021 18:16

I've banned you tube in this house as my son liked to watch people eating huge amounts of biscuits and sweets.. all those eating noises are just disgusting to me 😱😱

35andThriving · 12/11/2021 19:58

A very strange cartoon called TOM & the slice of bread with strawberry jam & honey. Also, likes watching videos about measuring things with a tape measure.

35andThriving · 13/11/2021 10:12

The painting restoration videos sound interesting. I'll have to see if I can get my dc into those as well. Smile

You've just made me search for the hydraulic press thing and it's bloody hilarious Grin
ChilliChaos · 13/11/2021 10:18

2.5 yo likes watching spiders building webs

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 14/11/2021 21:41

@GreenLunchBox it is hilarious and weirdly hypnotic 😁

GreenLunchBox · 14/11/2021 22:26

It really is. I spent an enjoyable 5 minutes watching a vid with my teen Grin

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 15/11/2021 00:38

DGS likes trains. Real trains, weird CGI trains, Dinosaur Train, Thomas with a ghastly American accent.

TheLastLonelyBakedBean · 15/11/2021 00:49

@ChilliChaos

Mine too! Absolutely obsessed with spiders and spider webs.

Rno3gfr · 15/11/2021 01:14

My 3 year old likes watching a video of these Koren guys dressed as fruit singing, “na,na, cha, cha, cha”.

elliejjtiny · 15/11/2021 01:24

My 7 year-old likes watching hamsters going round an obstacle course. My 10 year-old likes watching this art channel where they have 4 people competing to do weird challenges like making a picture of an animal using only bananas.

ImTakingTheEssence · 15/11/2021 02:12

My ten year old watches these two men build underground pools. She tends to take over the TV when she goes to my mams, anyway we all ended up watching it. It's actually really good.

Iloveallofthem · 15/11/2021 02:16

Current fav is " my names Geoff" which my two boys ( 10 and 7) find hilarious, whatever that may be.

They like Mr Beast, Ethan and Cole, Tydus and loads others.

Oh and did I mention watching gamers gaming?

🙄

Jackthementalkitten · 15/11/2021 08:27

Videos that involve cutting up soap, she’s obsessed Blush

tigerbear · 17/11/2021 21:48

Sniper Wolf or whatever she’s called. 😩

CoodleMoodle · 17/11/2021 21:59

My two (DD7 and DS3) between them have been or are obsessed with:

  • Grown men playing with toys and making stories (DS, two channels specifically, but they're safe and they're a bit educational so I don't mind)
  • Marble runs (DS), dominoes (DD) and Rube Goldberg machines (also DD)
  • 5 Minute Crafts (DD, and I've explained to her that a lot of them don't work but I'm not sure she believes me)
  • A channel called Brightside which has information videos but also brain teaser style puzzles which is a bit grown up but not unsafe (DD again)
  • A cartoon version of opening surprise eggs (DD at DS' age, and DS now!)
  • A Korean lady who has lots of cats (DD, and to be fair I like this one too)

And DH introduced them to a channel where three blokes drop things from heights and stuff, to see what happens (I think it's called How Ridiculous). They also went through a hydraulic press stage!

Nothing really weird, I suppose!
