Just that really. I went away for a week around the 18th October and since then I have had what I thought was constipation. Eventually I took laxatives which worked in the sense I pass some soft stool (not liquid - sorry TIM) but I still feel like there is more in there IYSWIM? Every time I take a laxative I feel like I'm passing what I've eaten that day or the night before but that I have more further up my body if that makes sense. I don't have a desperate urge to go or anything, and I'm not in any particular pain or even discomfort, I just feel there is more in there.

Things I have taken:

  • Lactulose
  • Glycerin suppositories
  • All bran
  • Prunes
  • Fig syrup
  • Loads of water
  • Milk of magnesia

I feel like this is constipation but everything I've read says this is indicated by hard stool and the stool I'm passing is soft (it's not liquid so is not overflow diarrhea caused by impacted stool, I don't think). I'm 32 and completely panicking I have bowel cancer and this is a tumour. Honestly I've never been so frightened. I tried to call my GP all last week and couldn't get an appointment for love nor money.

Has anyone else had similar and it was OK?

Oh you poor thing. I once didn’t poo for 9 days (my first pregnancy symptom unbeknownst to me!). A home enema from the pharmacist sorted me out pronto. Might need a prescription, not sure. Also coconut water is usually my saviour.

Re the panic/anxiety aspect. Earlier in the year I rang a private GP and said, ‘I know I sound crazy but I have all the symptoms of oesophageal cancer’. Just brazened it out. Felt I couldn’t go to regular GP as I was sure a lot of it was down to anxiety and was seeing GP for something else ongoing. Within a week I was scheduled for a gastroscopy and turns out i have a hiatus hernia. So if that’s an option I would recommend that.
