The gorgeous people

A silly post and I know that everyone thinks being beautiful means different things to us all but what makes someone beautiful in your eyes? Do you prefer someone really dolled up with leather trousers and makes a lot of effort or do you like the natural look of maybe casual clothing, hair in a bun or just down but not necessarily styled, with little make up?

I love the casual look but unfortunately for me I don't look like the beautiful, effortless girls I see with hair loosely clipped back and natural, olive skin that can walk out the door with no make up and still be stunning on the school run lol

I like natural beauty (on other people).
I never really doll myself up - hair is always on a bun as its long and my LG has a habit of pulling it.
I just go for comfort these days. I have my DH and 3 children so who cares. Lol.
I also think a good personality goes a long way.... and confidence

The most beautiful person in my life is my mum. She radiates peacefulness and she is deeply wrinkled, with smile lines all round her face.

Avarua · 07/11/2021 15:46

But if you're not my mum then basically it's down to confidence, a breezy nature and good hair (undyed, showing signs of good nutrition, and detergent-free shampoo).

Honestly?

Natural every time

Overdone clothes, make up, hair is a turn off for me personally

Also any fillers, Botox, talons, dazzling teeth, fake tan, fake eyelashes look ridiculous to me no matter how 'subtle' people think they're being

It screams insecurity and I'm not attracted to that

Well cut clothes in nice fabrics, good haircut, clean and well kept nails etc are all good though.

CouldThisReallyBe · 07/11/2021 15:51

I'm a prolific OLD'er and if it helps, men are always telling me how much they can't stand the women who a) are overdone and b) use silly filters on their photos.

For me personally, I wear enough make-up to make myself feel good. I never go out without my eyebrows neatly pencilled (due to 80's overplucking), some mascara and some lip gloss.

A kind heart, empathy, relaxed and happy.

scruffysally · 07/11/2021 16:09

I def agree with personality though! Some one not typically beautiful but with a kind heart and helpful nature gets me. Also really attracted to intellectual people 🙈

Ugh. Same here 😅

Good bone structure, clear skin, healthy hair, posture, natural sense of style. Overdone is not beautiful but make up can certainly enhance beautiful features if done well.

idontlikealdi · 07/11/2021 17:04

Natural. But most natural people spend a lot of time to look that way!

I don't think so...?

This is very simplistic though, and doesn't really fit with who is more beautiful, because there are so many variables.
One person may make a lot of effort with their hair and make-up, but the final look is vary natural, just polished, rather than 'dolled up'; they still might not look beautiful though.
Two different people could go for your second description, and one look gorgeous, while the other looks dull and dowdy, because the first is just naturally stunning and the second isn't.

Well there are different types of beauty.

In terms of physical attraction… I’ve gone for such a mix over the years, it’s something to do with the way their personality interacts with the way they look if that makes sense. I can’t really explain it! I do like good shoulders and thick hair though.

In terms of other women in a platonic sense, I think smilyness and positivity which shows in the face - it’s true when they say you get the face you deserve! I think tinted moisturiser helps though lol.

Men say they like natural women, but they don’t. Every man I know who says they prefer women without makeup pay more attention to those who wear lots of it.
