Anybody driven to Lake Garda?

We are planning this for July (Covid willing). Poole- Cherbourg ferry. Leaving on a Friday morning and need to be in Garda by Sunday afternoon. Any tips (good stopping points etc) would be much appreciated!

We did it via a 2 week holiday as a round trip so not sure on timings fully for you -

We did Dover Calais, through Belgium, Luxembourg (stopped overnight), down to Germany/leichtenstein boarder and stopped for a few days, then through Austria down to lake Garda for a few days, down to Milan, up through Switzerland and into france and stop for a few days and then up to Calais.

The Germany section was awful to drive! I'd def go through france and Switzerland- beware of the long tunnels and traffic jams through Switzerland - roads are good for all of it though.

Yes, we are going to go France- Switzerland. I'd heard the tunnels cause traffic jams.
