Insurance criteria changed - they will not renew

Despite being with Direct Line for nearly 30 years, and paying about £40k in premiums in that time, we got a letter yesterday saying that they will not renew our policy.

Our circumstances have not changed, we are not in a flood risk area and the only claims we have made were 2 about 20 years ago for under £1k.

They will not give a reason why, but how can we tell a potential new insurer why they will not insure us? They refuse to tell us anything, and just repeating that their criteria has changed, which does not help.

Has anyone else experienced this?
