If you were ordering in pizzas for 11 children…

How many would you order?
They are 10 years old, I’m ordering large pizzas from Pizza Hut, I’m currently thinking of ordering 6 large pizzas, 4 margerita and 2 pepperoni… also 3 boxes of chicken strips and 2 boxes of wedges. There is nothing else (other than cake afterwards!).
Do you think that’s enough? Ds would usually eat maybe 3 slices and I think each large is 8 slices… (it’s maybe 10, I can’t remember!)

@TheChosenTwo

I will update you as to how much is left later on. Dh is now helpfully piping up that he thinks I may have over ordered Grin he’s good like that Confused
Tell him to do it next time, then, OP. Grin

Will be interested to see how much gets eaten. I share your aversion to leftover pizza, so any surplus would likely end up in the bin in our house! Hence me not wanting to over order!

SpookyPumpkinPants · 07/11/2021 12:00

I think your updated order sounds good.

Though I don't really rate 'sides' so personally would order more pizza & no sides.

Hope you all enjoy the day, sounds like it's been a full on birthday!

Let us know how it goes...

@Hobnobswantshernameback

Cold pizza the next day is the food of the gods But this is Mumsnet where people will claim that their little Tarquin would be stuffed after smelling the pizza and would prefer some hummus and carrot sticks

Leftover pizza is AMAZING!! But then I'm well aware I'm not doing parenting 'right' according to MN 😂

Deadringer · 07/11/2021 12:02

We have had loads of pizza parties and we never bother with sides, we just over order on the pizza and eat whatever is left the next day.

liveforsummer · 07/11/2021 12:06

I'd always allow for half a pizza each and some spare for me so 6 is perfect plus sides for some variety and in case some are less keen on pizza. I know on mumsnet most kids nibble the edge of a slice but ime my 11 year old dd and her fiends would easily polish off half.

liveforsummer · 07/11/2021 12:08

I do think you are mad for them cooking a roast though. The pizza would be the main meal for the day and save me the effort of cooking 😆

TheChosenTwo · 07/11/2021 12:11

Ahh we aren’t a family of nibblers, we are big eaters. We will each eat a whole pizza to ourselves of our homemade pizzas (give or take a slice or two depending on how hungry we are) but delivery pizzas are much thicker based and quite stodgy so I will eat maybe 3 slices and could probably pick at a 4th but 3 is normal for me. I share one with dd2 if we are ordering in.
But leftover pizza of any description holds no appeal to me, the dds quite like it cold but wouldn’t want to eat it after it was sat out with the kids for a bit and I don’t blame them Grin
I hate wasting food, our chickens enjoy any leftovers usually!

@liveforsummer only ds (whose party it is!) will be eating pizza, one dd is at work and the other dd may have a slice but doesn’t really enjoy takeaway pizza. Dh won’t have any as he doesn’t like it either. And I’ve just had a smoked salmon bagel!
So the roast will be the main mean for the rest of us, we have a roast most sundays anyway. Dh cooks, not me!!

I would order 3 pepperoni and 2 margarita with the sides thats move then enough with leftovers you will probably find they eat 2 slices each plus sides

Triffid1 · 07/11/2021 12:38

I love this thread. I think you did it exactly right op - and rather leftovers than two little.

AnotherEmma · 07/11/2021 13:00

I would've ordered 6 pizzas, too and eaten some myself. I'm not a big fan of cold pizza either but you can always reheat the leftovers!

TheChosenTwo · 07/11/2021 13:55

Okay, they’ve left!
After the kids had finished there was one whole pepperoni left and once slice of margarita. It was offered to parents as they came to collect and it was all eaten! A box of wedges has been fed to the chickens, there was a couple of garlic bread slices left and 3 chicken strips. I think it was just about right!
Thanks for keeping my company while I deliberated Grin

Great result, OP! Enjoy your afternoon - and your roast!!

WholeClassKeptIn · 07/11/2021 15:26

Perfect! Well done on the party.

WeAllHaveWings · 07/11/2021 15:35

Ds and his friends would easily make it through 6 Pizza. I would keep one or two back until they had finished the first 4 and the sides then only bring out the others if they are still hungry.

CurlyMango · 07/11/2021 18:03

Agree with mrsfoxy. 6 pizzas and then two bagels of chicken nuggets a and some wedges cooked at home.

GoingForAWalk · 07/11/2021 18:22

Thanks for doing this test run as I have the same amount of DC to possibly feed with PH Pizza next weekend. I'm amazed they got through 5 large pizzas as they are massive.

TheChosenTwo · 07/11/2021 18:44

They are quite large! They didn’t all eat their crusts which are quite substantial. Dd2 did come and have a slice of each towards the end.
I was glad to have got 6 though, it’s better to have a little leftover than not enough. And it all went at the end anyway when the parents came to collect and finished the leftovers.
