Mammogram and deodrant

I stupidly forgot and used deodrant before my mammogram now I'm worried about the result ??

Don't worry, it'll be fine. It's only if the deodorant contains aluminium that it could potentially be an issue

And just think about this logically -- of it was really and truly that vital, you'd be handed a wipe to take it off as you entered the room or told to go and wash

Put it out your mind

Thanks I'm trying not to stress unfortunately the deodrant did contain aluminium 🤔

I never knew you’re not supposed to. I cycle to my mammograms, so I’ve always worn it so I don’t stink. Never had a problem with the results.

I've never worn deodorant to mine as they said not too, and when I had to go for further tests there were wipes at all stages you could use if you felt the need

Pavlova31 · 06/11/2021 16:48

Yes . My local mammogram unit gives cleansing wipes for your underarms before the scan.

EwwSprouts · 06/11/2021 16:50

I've never heard of this. I had an NHS mammogram recently with one trainee and two more senior staff and it wasn't mentioned.

Zeflyinghelmetandzevetcelery · 06/11/2021 16:58

I've not heard this either and I've had 9 mammograms. I was told not to wear it for radiotherapy.

BlackandJello · 06/11/2021 17:05

It'll be fine. Its just incase it shows up on the images. I've mammogrammed probably thousands of women wearing deodorant and I've never seen it show up.

Moisturisers and creams (especially sudocrem) are much worse as they get right in the pores of the skin.

Kay1202 · 06/11/2021 17:46

I'm anxious about the results anyway so I'm stressing about anything!
