Ordinary dry pasta - how out of date?

What would your limit be, for how out-of-date you would use it? I have found two bags of wholewheat fusilli, one of which is BBE Sept 2021 (I’m cooking it for lunch right now) and the other is BBE Nov 2020

Is 12 months too much? It looks absolutely fine and is in an unopened bag with no weevils or anything - would it be irresponsible to put it in the cupboard for coooking?

I'd eat both. How is dry pasta in a sealed bag going to go off?

ginslinger · 05/11/2021 12:36

I'd eat both -

I'd eat both too.

I'd eat both. Limit would probably be 2 years out of date for dried pasta.

I thought you were going to say it’s date was 1998 or something. Last year would be fine.

x2boys · 05/11/2021 12:39

Can dry pasta go off?

GoingForAWalk · 05/11/2021 12:47

I never check the date Blush I thought they just lasted forever pretty much.

PlinkPlankPlunk · 05/11/2021 13:01

Seems pretty unanimous then! I’ll keep the older bag as well - thanks.

1990 would make me think twice anything after 2020 is fair game

Mrsjayy · 05/11/2021 13:04

I know pasta will have a use by but I don't think dry pasta can go off I never check just eat. As long as it looks fine eat it.

SusannaRowan · 05/11/2021 13:11

As long as it looks and smells fine. Can't say I've ever checked the date on dried pasta.

TuftyMarmoset · 05/11/2021 13:24

I didn’t even know pasta had a date on it until another thread on here this year. I think if it’s from this century it’s probably fine.
