Natalie Wood and Kirk Douglas (potential trigger warning)

AnnunciataZ · 05/11/2021 08:57

For years there were rumours that Kirk Douglas had raped Natalie Wood when she was a teenager and her sister has now confirmed it.

Poor Natalie, she was so talented but what a sad life and tragic end she had.

Alleged

AnnunciataZ · 05/11/2021 10:04

I believe her.

There's no smoke without fire. He has never really come across as a 'nice' person so I actually believe it too.

Natalie Wood had a trouble existence. There has to be some blame on her mother who it seems knew what would happened but pushed her into seeing him because it would further her career.

CagneyNYPD1 · 05/11/2021 10:23

This has been suspected for many, many years. I believe the sister's account of what happened to Natalie. I also believe that Natalie was let down by many people in her life, including her own mother. It is no surprise that this book has been written now that KD is dead.

But I am uncomfortable with the attention that will now fall on to Michael Douglas. The son should not suffer because of the sins of the father.

BarefootHippieChick · 05/11/2021 10:24

Awful if true, but unfortunately not surprising in the world of Hollywood

It's interesting that Michael hasn't released a statement defending his father. All he's said is "may they rest in peace".

Sounds as if her own fucking mother pimped her out.

Clocktopus · 05/11/2021 10:37

Given that there are rumours about Michael's alleged activities and that he was named in the #MeToo movement, I wouldn't worry too much about attention being focused on him.

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 05/11/2021 10:40

So she has a new book out, she won't need a go fund me for any further house purchases then?Of course, what else could Lana do after her bankruptcy

If there was a rape then that crime should be investigated properly. Not gossiped about. Surely?

astoundedgoat · 05/11/2021 10:43

From her sister's description, it sounds like her mother knew exactly what she was doing. She delivered her teenage daughter to a powerful man's bedroom at night??? I'm not exonerating KD from blame, but it sounds like it's what was intended all along, even if Natalie didn't realise. Poor girl.

mylovelydd · 05/11/2021 10:44

Why is it when a woman says she was raped people always rush with "alleged".
As if all women are liars and all men are innocent victims.
Fuck off with that.

I believe her.

Yeah because she would have got a fair hearing after all Hmm

No I won't 'duck of' love

She hasn't said it, her bankrupt/new book out/go fund me sister has

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 05/11/2021 10:47

Or even 'fuck off'

mylovelydd · 05/11/2021 10:50

Aah and there it is again...that other narrative that women are either liars or will just say anything for money...Hmm

Utterly disgusting.

Even if her sister is bankrupt, it still doesn't make it untrue.

PlanktonsComputerWife · 05/11/2021 10:57

@mylovelydd, do you really not see why it's a good thing if people are only condemned after a fair trial?

It is so evidence can be tested, and people don't get destroyed just because someone denounces them (in this case- decades later, hearsay account, accused and victim both conveniently dead-- and the accuser is flogging a book. I don't automatically believe anything. The account paints the girls' own mother as an absolute monster, too).

Clocktopus · 05/11/2021 11:02

I believe her too but no charges were made and if any 9f the parties involved are litigious then MNHQ tend to delete the threads. Including an "alleged" here and there helps make sure the discussion cams continue.

Clocktopus · 05/11/2021 11:07

The accusations have been circulations for years, long before Lana Wood's book, then they really took off in 2012 when the blind gossip pages published a load of stories (supposedly leaked by Robert Downey Jr) including the rape of Natalie Wood.

PlanktonsComputerWife · 05/11/2021 11:14

How do you defend yourself against a rumour on a gossip website, though? You can't. That's the point of whispering campaigns.

As women we are really unlikely ever to be accused of sexual assault, so it's hard to put ourselves in the shoes of the accused here, but would we be so sanguine about our sons, brothers, dads being accused of rape and their accusers believed automatically?

Given that the conviction rate of reported rapes and sexual assault is so pitifully low then our sons, brothers and dads can rest easy if accused.
No wonder reported rapes are a fraction of actual rapes committed.

Do you know how rare false accusations are? And how few rapes and assaults get reported and then actually secure a conviction?

Completely agree. Michael Douglas is answerable for his own actions. But not the actions of his father.

You can’t libel the dead
xxxGirlCrushxxx · 05/11/2021 12:08

The same sister is also saying her husband murdered her (alleged)

Again, zero proof

But, if it sells books....
