As part of some therapy for depression. (Thinking more being stuck with duckheads in a shirty situation rather than depressed)

I've been told to try and do things that are enjoyable to me this weekend but I rely camt even think what I enjoy any more.

Any ideas
.

IhateBoswell · 05/11/2021 07:17

Painting. I find it very therapeutic.

vinoandbrie · 05/11/2021 07:21

Reading a book. Gardening. Having a bath. Those are the little things I enjoy. Hope you can have a really nice weekend.

ChampagneCommunist · 05/11/2021 07:22

Colouring in? I love it

Pinkmagic1 · 05/11/2021 07:23

I ride and and enjoying spending time with the horses. It is my escape from everything and a place where I can forget my stress and worries for a while.
I also enjoy open water swimming. I find it incredibly calming.

Allaboutyou222 · 05/11/2021 07:23

Boring but…..walk, visit the sea, nice cafe visit, wander around an art gallery, hiit class at gym, crochet. Just being outside lifts my mood.

Hope you find something you like.

toolazytothinkofausername · 05/11/2021 07:24

Watch a tv series. At the moment I'm rewatching The Orville on Disney+

waterlego · 05/11/2021 07:26

I like long walks in the countryside. Sounds boring to a lot of people and sometimes I find it boring to begin with but I get into it after a while and find excellent headspace.

Other things I enjoy include exercise classes, going out for brunch/lunch, having a bath, yoga, baking, doing puzzles (crosswords etc). Hope you find a pleasant way to spend your time and destress.

This is what I like to do during warmer months :)

Walking somewhere with lots of trees, reading, hot chocolate, galleries, farms, museums. I've no patience for baths or crafts unfortunately haha

GoodnightGrandma · 05/11/2021 07:28

A deep bubble bath and TikTok, love it.

vampirethriller · 05/11/2021 07:28

Knitting, reading, zombie films, colouring, gardening.

GoodnightGrandma · 05/11/2021 07:29

I book an exercise class, then I don’t want to go, but when I’ve done it I feel pleased that I’ve done it.

lndnbrdge91 · 05/11/2021 07:31

Cycling is fun, and makes me feel very free. I mean a leisurely cycle not the sort of bike ride you do for miles clad in Lycra.

When depressed, the idea of these will not excite you. Not because you don't enjoy them but because depression is a heavy blanket on you right now.

So I suggest you go ahead and do, just do. Then afterwards, note down how you felt before, during and after each thing.
Some suggestions:
Walk in wooded areas
Walk but near water
Walk in urban settings (familiar)
Walk in urban setting ( unfamiliar)
Painting a picture
Painting abstract
Colouring in
Crafting with clay or dough
Swimming
Visiting a gallery or museum
Sitting and reading in a library
Writing a story (Including just writing a story you already know, like 3 bears)
Singing (well or badly, who cares)
Gardening

SingToTheSky · 05/11/2021 07:33

Playing piano
Drawing
Reading fiction
Doing maths or logic puzzles (I am a big nerd! 😁)
Binge watching a good tv show
Seeing friends for a meal somewhere
Cinema
Charity shop browsing
Board games

Podcasts. Elis James & John Robins, and Secret World of Slimming Clubs* in particular.

*This one is genuinely hilarious, 5% slimming clubs, 95% three women + one male producer having a laugh, and a lovely online community has built up around it.

If I'm staying in, my most favourite thing to do is sleep. Proper sleep, not just lolling in bed. If I'm going out, I need a purpose. If I can get cheap seats, I like the opera. I go out to eat. Shopping bores me but I do like a bookshop, so can spend a happy hour in one.

MrsJBaptiste · 05/11/2021 07:40

Coffee when nobody else is up
Long session at the gym
Leisurely lunch
Shopping
Reading
Drinks at the pub

^ a perfect Saturday to me 😊

LadyCleathStuart · 05/11/2021 07:40

Walking, somewhere quiet with nice scenery, it doesn't sound enjoyable when you are feeling down but honestly it can really pick you up.

Reading.

Drawing/colouring.

Going for a nice coffee and cake.

Watching old films.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/11/2021 07:42

walking up a big hill
i know its difficult but once done the achievement is magic

GoodnightGrandma · 05/11/2021 08:16

Something else I enjoy is when the weather is bad, throwing it down and blowing a hoolie, looking out of the window from my safe, warm house.

EllaPaella · 05/11/2021 12:11

Playing piano
Walking with my dog and stopping for a coffee
Open-water swimming (life changing)
Meeting up with friends
Cooking something special for dinner
Browsing round nice homeware and clothes boutiques in my local town
Getting engrossed in a really good book, drinking copious cups of tea and eating a nice box of chocs.

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 05/11/2021 13:09

Thank you

Some of things are things I already know I've enjoyed before but will definitely make a list
