What to cook for friends?

We've gotten so used to doing bbq and didnt have people over last year during Covid, I've totally just forgotten what we used to cook for friends! Can anyone inspire me? Will be a late lunch/early tea as all our kids will be there (I'll do something else for kids) but aside from a roast am drawing a blank!

Any inspiration much appreciated!!

Best thing ( imho ) to cook for a crowd is pulled pork
Some coleslaw and nice bread rolls , macaroni cheese and green salad
Suits all ages too

Lasagne, salad, garlic bread
Coq au Vin, buttery mash and fine green beans
Chicken Wellington, roast potatoes and veg

Roast dinner would be nice, but all that carving and waiting? And you are doing two different meals.

Oooo lasagne is a good one, can make the day before! Or coq au vin, never made it before but worth a try!

A prawn, or other seafood, linguine is very quick and easy but also feels like a treat.

I use prawns with frozen spinach and peas. Always goes down well

Nigella does a coq au riesling which has become a total staple in our house. basically uses white wine and adds cream at the end. It is food of the gods.

Stick with the BBQ theme?

Honey and mustard sausages? Mash and veg? Plain sausages for the kids.

Or a one pot? Sausage hot pot?

Curry?

Chilli and jackets and salad, and sour cream and stuff.
