So frustrated with Sainsbury's Chop Chop service

I don't know why I do it to myself, I really don't. The last 3 deliveries have had missing items. Not unavailable, just not arrived at all, necessitating a long call to customer services (who, to be fair, have always been excellent).

This evening I needed some stuff to get dinner started, DH has the car and it's raining. I really didn't fancy the shlep to the shops which is a 40 minute round trip on foot, so I ordered some bits quickly.

I ordered nine items. Only four arrived. I checked my email and the things that didnt arrive were:
bread ( 2 different types)
eggs
coleslaw
milk

Now our local Sainsburys where this comes from is a BIG store. I don't believe for an instant that they were out of the above ( I mean, maybe coleslaw?). They didn't call, either (which their blurb says they do) to discuss substitutions.

I'm not wrong in thinking this is a bit shit, am I?

Our Sainsbury’s has had no milk the last 3 times I’ve been there, I’ve had no problem in Asda or the local Spar, so not sure what the Sainsbury’s issue is.

Generally, I think delivered items don't come from your local store but from a central warehouse.
Also, there are currently National delivery problems. Supermarkets are being affected by it. Many empty shelves for months now.

Sainsbury’s comes from a large store 40 miles away from me, a bit bonkers because there is another store 13 miles away but they deliver in the opposite direction apparently.

Tesco and Asda near us also deliver from their stores, in fact there aren’t any supermarkets near us that deliver from warehouses. I thought only Waitrose did this?

I know that it's our local Sainsburys that delivers due to the amount of times I've had to ring them up to complain in the past! I've been in to various supermarkets over the past week and everyone seems to have milk at the very least.
I'm just pissed off that they didn't even call to tell me that over half of my order wasn't coming -I'd have cancelled if I'd known.

Hey ho.

What’s chop chop?

Jojoanna · 04/11/2021 18:41

Our local Sainsburys is constantly low on stock ,

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 04/11/2021 18:43

I was in my local sainsburys yesterday and it was unbelievably empty although there was a ton of bread

justabigdisco · 04/11/2021 18:43

All the major supermarket delivery services (not including Ocado) pick stuff off the shelves from a local store. That’s why there are frequent missing items / substitutions and the stock availability on the website is inaccurate.
