Group B strep. Not pregnant.

Does it need to be treated? It came back on swab test results. GP said she will get back to me. I know all about the implications in pregnancy but don't know if it's cause for concern when not pregnant?!

I was diagnosed after a Stillbirth during which a battery of tests were carried out. My subsequent pregnancy was very well monitored and nothing at all needed to be done about Strep B until I was in labour.

I wouldn't have thought so. It can come and go naturally. Do you get a lot of UTIs by any chance? I had it in my first pregnancy (but not my second) and I'm sure it was the reason I was constantly getting cystitis. Not had cystitis since!

No. Group B Strep is a bacteria that can live in the stomach, vagina and bowels but is no cause for concern unless pregnant. Even then they don't routinely check for it! I seem to remember they told me around 4/10 people are "colonised" by it and most will never know.
