If you have fancy shaped soaps - why?! And do you actually use them?

I’ve got a lovely little bee shaped bar (well, not a bar at all but you know what I mean!) of soap. But I just can’t bring myself to use him - I love him and I don’t want to make him all misshapen. Do you actually use your fancy shaped soaps or do you just gaze admiringly at them and whip out the Dove when your hands need a wash?

Yes and No.
I use the pure soap from Lidl and leave the nice stuff.

I like the savon de marseilles stuff I have by the kitchen sink though.
smells nice and doesn't crack my hands

Yes I do use them all. Pears for everyday but love buying and receiving The Clovelly Soap Company ones for presents.

I had them when I was younger. I used to put them in my drawer to make my clothes smell nice.

Wendyer · 03/11/2021 22:45

How can you bear to spoil whatever lovely shape they’re in?!

I use them, DDT’s know I love them so keep me well supplied.

I use my fancy soap, wear my best clothes, use my fancy china. I use the collectable, antiques/heirlooms we have like they should be used. Yes I could break or chip them. But I want to enjoy the things I have otherwise there is no point me having them. What are you saving these things for?

I don’t know Walnut! I think your approach is 100 per cent the right one, but I can’t bring myself to disfigure my bee!

If you rub the underside of him on the palm of your hand to use him and not just swill him around Willy Nilly then he should just get smaller and smaller rather than misshapen and you get to use him!

MissCreeAnt · 04/11/2021 08:57

I get my fancy soap in slices, and use it every day!

Use your bee! If you don't, ultimately you'll just end up chucking him and that would be worse.

dontgobaconmyheart · 04/11/2021 09:22

I don't love soap but yes I always use them (and everything else up) What is the alternative? Keep it forever until it dries out or isn' usable and bin it? That seems wasteful to me.

Enjoy the bee as a soap OP, it wants to fulfil its purpose Grin. You can always buy another, or buy an ornament.

Zenithbear · 04/11/2021 09:26

Yes I love fancy soaps and I agree with walnutcream

I used to have best things, but apart from obvious special occasion items like posh frocks, I now use them all up/wear them regularly etc.

I've been known to keep them.
I've kept a Body Shop dolphin shaped soap for 27years. It's now faded, cracked, dry and has no scent. It's only fit to throw away. I just haven't got round to it yet.

I bought the au lait teddy bear last year and used it straight away. I enjoyed using it.
