Weird DVLA letter

I sent my licence if in early august to change name and photo.

I got my marriage certificate back 10
Weeks later about the 18 October with a comp slip Stating licence could be up to two weeks. All fine.

About two days later I get a letter from then DVLA stating that (paraphrasing)

"I notice that Licence issues to you, is incorrect" (Sic- weird punctuation)

"Please return the licence with the attached form in the attached envelope.

"Please call me to discuss further.

Signed, name"

So many questions about this and the phone number is wrong and doesn't work.

Why would I/anyone send a licence back with no reason as to why there is a mistake on it!

I still don't have the licence at this point (I do now). And the options in the return form make no sense.

Why is there a weird punctuation error on the letter that makes no sense?

I have the licence now after 12 weeks.

I'm going to send back the letter to explain that the phone number is wrong- and no one in their right mind would send it back without abs valid reason - and for them to call me to explain why.

Can anyone enlighten me!? Such a weird letter!!

Call them? It sounds like a scam

Zarene · 03/11/2021 20:46

I’d be assuming an attempt at fraud.

LeroyJenkinssss · 03/11/2021 20:46

It’s a scam. And not a very good one.

Maybe a scam letter. Is the address on the envelope a valid dvla one?

cherrypiepie · 03/11/2021 20:50

This is what I am thinking.

But I all look Bonafide with an employees name and a return envelope. With the name and department on the back and a DVLA postcode.

I can't call them as the number is wrong (there appears to be a number missing) and the switchboard is not taking calls.

I'm now reluctant to send it back the form at all as it does sound like a scam- but I don't think it is.

I'd hold onto the licence and see if they chase it up then
Can you see anything wrong on the licence?

@dementedpixie yes it think I'll do this. It's their error with the wrong phone number and no reason.

There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the licence (except the old crone in the pictureGrin)

The phone number is wrong and the switchboard doesn't answer calls.

Just chuck it in the bin.

If it's the DVLA (it isn't) they will write to you again.

Whatamesssss · 03/11/2021 21:30

It's a scam, never call the number that they provide to you. Always google the number of the company and phone that if you are not sure.

So weird. I will ignore it even though I want to find out more.

If it's a scam then DVLA should know and if it is genuine in they should also know that people think it's a scam and their procedures are terrible.

Scam, throw letter away and ignore.
