If you overeat

If you tend to routinely overeat, do you think it's partly due to some issues/things that happened in your childhood, and if so, what are they?

I'm having and had various therapies to try and stop overeating.

I think a lot of it is boredom, I think hmmm what can I eat and I look forward to eating it. Then I have lots because it's nice. So in terms of control, it's about letting yourself lose control. So people do this a lot as adults they zone out of responsibilities by getting drunk or stoned or over eating. Which ever you choose is that wild moment of care free fuck it yes I will have another.

I agree with this.

Sometimes what I seek in food is mindlessness. I don't drink or do drugs and there's only so much sex I can have Blush so it's food for me...

Yes. Food was strictly rationed in my house and I was made to eat meals that I absolutely hated to the point of being made to gag.
I am NC with my mum now and I think I associate food with pleasure and can eat and do what I like now I earn my own money.
I will never again be treated like that and every time I have something indulgent or nice I internally stick 2 fingers up to my mum who caused so much misery and hunger as a child.

No, nothing to do with any childhood problem. I don't drink, take drugs or smoke. I eat more when I'm sad, lonely, bored.

It's alongside sex in terms of pleasure for me.
The whole thing; taste, texture.
I just love eating soo much!

Don’t think being formula fed has anything to do with it. My dd eats like a bird and was ff. my sister was exclusively breastfed and is 24 stone.
I over eat and had a lot of childhood trauma. No idea if it’s related but food always comforts me. I binge eat when there’s nobody home

@cushioncovers

I love food and I love the feeling of being full and satisfied with food. If I get too hungry I can quickly start feeling shaky, sweaty, irritated and headachy which then leads to a migraine. I am obese though and have tried many diets in the past.
I'm a bit like this, I get shaky and "hangry" if I haven't eaten so I am then fearful of not eating and overcompensate by eating so I don't get hungry. I can't quite pin my issues down although I suspect childhood related. Food was not scarce but sweets were rewards, treats, etc and it was always an issue that I was overweight when my brothers were thin. . I hide food and eat when I am alone but can't pin it to any particular emotion like boredom, anger, etc
