do the consumer contracts regs apply internationally?

As above really? I've just placed an online order for books, only to realise after I needed to cancel. I informed them by email about ten mins after placing the order.

The company have informed me they cannot refund as they have already dispatched Hmm (unlikely, and also irrelevant according to the legislation)- but does the legislation apply given that they are in the US and I am in the UK? If not, what are my rights?

Did you order them directly from the US? If so then UK consumer rights don’t cover you,

Yes I did - I cancelled because I thought I was covered :( that'll teach me not to look more closely!

Might you be able to eBay them when you get them? Even if you sell them for a little less you won’t have wasted the whole of the cost of them.
