I wish they had told me the truth instead of coming up with tripe.
For example

  1. They'd refuse me sweets and ice-cream, but not because sugar is unhealthy. It was "There is no money. Don't forget how poor we are!". We weren't.

  2. They wouldn't let me do sports because "Its dangerous". In reality they couldn't be arsed to take me. Fair enough, because they worked hard and wanted to relax after work, not run around training sessions.

My dad told me you actually couldn’t learn to drive in an automatic, it had to be manual. Only if you passed your test in a manual could you drive an automatic.

I believed that until last year, I’m 35 now. I never got to grips with driving (I can do tons of other stuff, driving just doesn’t compute, I live in cities, it doesn’t matter)

But I totally lost my bottle and gave up trying, if I’d known you could learn in an automatic I might have tried that!

My dad is weirdly snobby about people not being able to ‘drive properly’.
