Would you take HRT solely for loss of libido?

Think I'm finally nearly at the end: nearly 53 and last period 4 months ago!
It's been a fairly easy peri, just some heavy periods towards the end and the occasional red face.
But!
In the last few months I've had no libido whatsoever. Nothing. I groan and put up with sex occasionally to keep DH happy, but it would be nice if it were nice. He's a great husband and I love him.
So, given that my only real menopause problem is loss of libido, is it reasonable to request HRT? Is that a good idea? If I do ask GP I'll probably be too embarrassed to even say that, and invent a few mood swings and night swings to bolster my case!

Any advice appreciated.🙂

I'd get testosterone, but you'll probably need to go private to get it (unless there's a menopause clinic in your area).

Thanks, @CorrBlimeyGG I'll look into that.
Is there not a risk that that might make me hairy or something, though? I'm already battling a fairly impressive moustache 😞

My doctor prescribed Tibolone HRT for low libido as it has testosterone properties. I didn't take it for long and didn't notice an improvement but it may be worth a try...

LibidiNo · 02/11/2021 11:24

Thanks, @BlackInk I may mention that to GP.

I was hoping to avoid mentioning the libido aspect at all as I'd find it embarrassing. Pathetic, I know. Blush

I’m not going to pretend l know the answer to this, l’m early 40s and my libido is more or less the same as in my mid teens.

But l do know our sexual health and our sexual satisfaction are important for a happy life and no woman should be embarrassed about talking to a doctor about such things. If you try and side step it, you may not get the solution.

Well I probably would tbh. But there are also other benefits of HRT - most notably protection against Osteoporosis, so it's beneficial anyway.

I'm taking HRT and testosterone and haven't noticed any dip in my libido or a massive 'tache growing
