That brief feeling

of being less popular than others in your friendship group, at work or family.

How can it be that at the wise age of 30+ the sudden realisation that you are not as popular in a given group of people can still get you to feel a bit horrible even if only for a brief moment. It's silly, isn't it?

Does it bother you seeing others being treated in a really appreciative way or gushed over while you are ignored in the same situation? Not feeling sorry for myself just annoyed with myself for feeling this IYSWIM.

I don't think it's silly.

If you've only just realised/felt this then it's bound to be upsetting.

It's something I've always felt. There are times when I wonder if I'm the pity friend they hang out with out of obligation.

I'm not as good socially as the others. But it's ok. I am still included in the group, and my friends are genuinely lovely. I'm just never going to be the popular/cool one. And that's ok.
