Do I have to self isolate pending a pcr result?

I have a sore throat & cough but I'm sneezing and very snotty so think it's a cold, my ds is the same but has a temp. Lateral flow says we are both negative but I've just sent off a pcr test to be on the safe side. Do we need to self isolate in the meantime?

Not if you’re double vaccinated but if symptomatic it may be a good idea.

Yes you isolate if you have a cough whilst waiting for a PCR. Why would you even need to ask?

@RubyFakeLips it’s contacts that don’t need to isolate, not people with symptoms.

Yes, if you have symptoms you isolate until you get your PCR results

@Hogu Because I didn't know!! in November 2021 you didn’t know you had to isolate if you had covid symptoms?

@Hogu tbf the rule to isolate when symptomatic has been in force since March 2020 so I'm guessing some posters find it slightly strange youve not heard it!

Probably does seem a bit strange but the rules changed that often ages ago and I've never had any symptoms until recently. Although I did think because I'm sneezing & snotty that it was more likely to be a cold. Hopefully will find out tomorrow anyway 🤞🏼

Delta variant often presents as a cold with sneezing and snotty nose. They were my first symptoms when I had Covid. It could just be a cold of course but sneezing is a common recent symptom of Covid.
