People’s music on trains

Two strangers sitting behind me on the train (not together) each listening to their own music on headphones, that is loudly leaking out in a high pitched discordant hellscape. Why don’t people check their music isn’t audible to others in the vicinity? Or do they just not care?

I know I don’t have the right to complain if I’m not prepared to ask them to turn it down but unfortunately I’m a wuss. Admittedly this is one of my pet peeves, I can cope with crunching/rustling and eating and drinking sounds but not this

They don't care. Some people treat the whole world like it's their own front room. Ignorant sods. I have asked people a few times to please turn it off and it has never gone well - either been ignored or told (not in so many words) to mind my own business. There is no getting through to people like this, and that includes parents who allow their child to watch a screen in public without headphones. I usually just get up and move, or stick my own headphones in and try to ignore it

This is why I always take earplugs on trains. Other people’s music is extremely annoying

Count yourself lucky. You must live somewhere very Middle England and fancy. On my trains they don’t even use earphones.

This gives me the rage, I think I actually have a hearing sensitivity problem though.

I carry foam ear plugs with me now and they really do help.

I can just about understand headphone people being oblivious and not really realising how horrible the leaky leaky noise is but parents who let their kids play on devices with the volume on have a special place in hell reserved for them.
