66 year old mum is lonely..online dating?

Mum moved an hour away to be closer to us, I try and see her as much as I can. I get her to pick the kids up from school to keep her busy kind of thing. But she says on a night she is so lonely. Her EX died 2017 and she has been on her own ever since.

Do I suggest online dating for her or is that a bad idea?

OLD is not for the fainthearted OP and if your DM has never done it before I think I'd worried about her being catfished, tbh. There are a lot of romance scammers out there.

Can she get involved in some in-person things locally? WI, flower arranging, bell ringing, rambling, local gym, dog walking, U3A, something like that?

The OP’s mother is 66 - not 96! And even at 96 I’m pretty sure she’d be capable of sorting out online dating for herself if that’s what she wanted.

U3A seems to be the place to find dates. You can sign up for all sorts of things but my dad uses it to meet women Grin

Ooh never heard of the U3A! Will have to show her it.
