Cheapest way to repair cracked phone screen?

I've just cracked my phone screen and I really don't want to spend too much having it repaired. What's the cheapest I option? It's an iPhone 8+, in case it matters.

Thanks!

I don’t think there is a cheap way unless you buy the screen online and do it yourself

Which I don’t think is easy, you also run the risk of damaging the phone more if you don’t know what you’re doing. Do you not have insurance?

I don't know how much you consider a lot but I had mine repaired at a cheap local phone shop and it was only £40. I thought that was a really good deal.

Wow, £40 is cheap! I hear it's normally more like£100...

Thanks again. I dropped my phone at work, so it wouldn't be covered by my home Insurance. Even if it did, a screen repair is not worth me claiming on it and risking my premiums rising.

Ask on your local community Facebook page (if you have one) if there’s a recommended phone fixing person. We have one whose name is given out again and again and everyone loves him - he charges about half the price of the Apple store and offers a warranty on work he does too.

Independent phone shops, £50 for screen repairs round mine

I claimed on home insurance recently for DC’s phone. I never did this before and always took it on the chin. But after a £40 botched job I thought that’s the next best option. It was a top model 3 years ago but out of warranty by now. I don’t know how much it will up the cost of insurance in the future. We got a reconditioned one, I don’t think it was new.

I just dropped mine on the bus, and the screen's smashed. It's still working okay so I'm going to just put a screen protector over the top, so stop water from getting in.
If that's too expensive you can use clear packing tape.
